Water for Gas

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Greenville Central

On the local news the other day there was a story talking about using water for gas.

Before I talk about what this is, I just have to say the new story was funny because it was talking about a local police department using it to test it out. They show a normal looking Ford Explorer, but the funniest part of all is that they actually say, "it looks like a normal SUV, but it is an undercover vehicle." Well not any more it isn't! See story.

Ok so back to the story at hand. The is a devise that you can purchase that you put water in and while your car runs, it infuses Hydrogen and Oxygen. It is suppose to give you better gas mileage. It doesn't replace your gas, but just enhances your gas. The town got 6 to 8 miles more per gallon. There is also a system that you can use vegetable oil to increase your diesel gas mileage.

Has anyone out there done this and does it work? I am sure there are many things going on out there to get better gas mileage out there, but how cool would that be to just use water to just make your dollar stretch a little more.

While I'm all for alternative fuels and cutting back on fossil fuels, I think it's fair to remember that one day water maybe a commodity. Here in the West water is key. I don't know about other places but my water bill is HIGHER than my power bill. Let's go alternative, but remember there maybe no perfect answer. Thanks for sharing!

Lets all hope it does work well. It could be a partial answer to all of our energy problems. My guess is it increases the combustion efficiency and thereby also reduces greenhouse gas emissions.

I'll wait til more evidence comes out on this. I read this story the other day. I'm worried that people overly concerned about fuel prices, that this will sound good, and will be scammed into purchasing before enough proof is available.

I'm a bit skeptical, but if it would work, I'd be first in line! Dena has a scarey thought - water a commodity.....

If this really worked wouldn't GM and Ford be touting it so they could sell more cars?  What does this type of stuff have to be underground?  I think the reason usually is that it is a scam.

Crystal - I'd love to know the specifics, but I know we really need to utilize our technology to get ourselves out of this position.  In addition, we need to cut back and change our habits as well.  I'm all for ideas, but I too watch out for scams and such.
