If you have not started training yet, you might want to wait until next year to hop in on this. The Ironman 2008 in Louisville KY is coming up on August 31st. Atheletes from around the world will be here to swim 2.4 miles in the Ohio River, Bike 112 miles and then finish off the day with a quick marathon to round things off.
83 miles of the bike portion of the race are in Oldham County. I remember last year we watched part of the race at the Hwy 146 and Hwy 393 intersection, right at Oldham County High School, and it was something to see. It seemed like a never ending stream of bikers coming from HWY 42. Pretty impressive. I know the hills on wy 393 can be tough on cars at time, could not imagine making the trip on a bike.
