A PET'S TEN COMMANDMENTS:
1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you is likely to be painful.
2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.
3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well-being.
4. Don't be angry with me for long and don't lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends, your entertainment, but I have only you.
5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I do understand your voice when speaking to me.
6. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget it.
7. Before you hit me, before you strike me, remember that I could hurt you, and yet, I choose not to bite you.
8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting the right food, I have been in the sun too long, or my heart might be getting old or weak.
9. Please take care of me when I grow old. You too, will grow old.
10 On the ultimate difficult journey, go with me please. Never say you can't bear to watch. Don't make me face this alone. Everything is easier for me if you are there, because I love you so.
Ahhh .. NIck....nice list. I like #4. I always say that. We are their entire world! They worship us and live only to be with us and to please. We should be that way with God, don't you think?
That's a cute 10 commandments for pets, too bad the 1st commandment doesn't give them a longer life. ;>)
Well shoot Nick!! That had me tearing up! Not because I'm mean to my dog, but because i know one day she will not be with me anymore and that will break my heart. And yes - however much that hurts, I will be there to comfort her.
Nick - like Simon, you had me, well, you know. Reminded me of Kismet, my best friend of 14 years who was always there for me, unconditionally.
Nick,
Thanks for the reminders. We have a small Bischon about the size of Mike's up above!
This is awesome Nick - I'm going to share it with our Vet ! our Black lab Buddy is the best example of unconditional love!
Sincerely,
Grace
Nick - You have reminded me of a couple of my pets that I had to put to sleep. It was really hard, but I wanted to be there and talk to them while it was happening. I'm really glad I did.
Sharon ~ You got that right. We should be only so loyal and full of love as our pets our towards us. We would touch the heart of God.
I hate to disagree with Grace on this blog Nick, but my chocolate brown lab Katie is the best example of unconditional love! :)
Ann-Marie~ You certainly know your Bible. I would love to have that for my pets as well.
Mike ~ Cute baby. I lost my Peaches six years ago, and I was with her to the very end. She knew I was there, she even gave me a kiss good bye.
Grace ~ Unconditional and full of sweetness. If I could only live up to what my doggies think I am, I would be a happy man.
Debi ~ That was the nicest thing you could have done for them. It brings us closer and we shall see them again. I just know it.
Thanks for the post. It made me remember to be kinder and more understanding. Although I do think my babies are spoiled and I have recently brought home another one to spoil. So I have 4 girls now. 3 chihuahuas and 1 kitten.
What a wonderful post. I have 4 furbabies and I love them all!!! Max passed away 8/21 and today he was on my mind all day. I miss him so much. Check out my blog about Max
Hi Nicholas -- very cool. We particularly know # 5, and we have an assortment of voices for our two dogs and our cat (and also mother's cat). Fun post! God bless you!
