Lipstick on a Pig

By
Real Estate Agent with Century 21 Absolute Realty

I have not made a decision on who will be my next President or Vice President yet. I have to admit that I loved Governor Palin's comment about Hockey moms and pit bulls. The difference is the hockey mom wears Lipstick! I want something different and I think she has brought something dynamic to the republican ticket.

That being said. Senator Obama makes a comment about Pigs waring Lipstick. A day later. Unfortunate choice of words, right? A day or two after her big speech.

Of course, right?

I thought so too....Until the news media trotted out several clips of John McCain and others using the same choice of words. What!!!! How could he? How could they? Pigs!!

Wait a minute. How about keeping things in context. These clips were from past speeches that have nothing to do with the past few days. Did anyone look at the reaction of the people in the background when these comments were made? Mild Chuckles. When Senator Obama made his comment it was wild applause, Laughter and thumbs down. I know the speaking point at the time was about John McCain but it just smells. Does not sit right at all. Smells like a smear.

I try to listen to the words and look into the facts but...this one bothered me...and since my first few blogs have been somewhat anemic I thought I would trot it out there.

P.S. San Demus High School Football Rules! Hope I spelled it correctly.  Never tried before. Only been yelling it since the 1980's.

Obama's words were carefully chosen to demean Sarah Palin and denigrate her as a mother and as a woman.  The crowd even laughed as he carefully used those words in context.  It is sad that the democratic party that acts as they are so progressive... demean women and debase them in the roles of motherhood.  That is why they could not elect Hillary to lead their own party.  The democrats do not respect women that worked their way up the ladder.  Shame on them.

John McCains words were taken totally out of context from unrelated speeches.  It is sad how the media is so biased.

I think his words were appalling. He again made fun of his comments on the Late Show with David Letterman

I don't think gotcha politics helps anyone. I hated it when they repeatedly speared George Allen for his "Macaca Moment" and I don't think they should do it to Obama.

The great thing about politics is that if yo look hard enough everyone has put thier foot in thier mouths many times and the media can twist it until it breaks!

I just think both sides are acting like children. I thought the office of president was to be treated with respect. not these two... God help us all.

Well it's sort of like being in a hot conversation with a group of people and saying something stupid like "Oh...she is Such a FAT PIG"....and then realizing that one of the women in your group is "fat".....VERY POOR JUDGMENT and a lack of awareness and respect.

I don't care for Obama for many reasons, but I do not believe he made this specifically to be an attack against Sara...I think the bottom line is that HE JUST "DOESN'T THINK" before speaking.  No big deal...I'm sure he wouldn't slip up in a conversation with President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran.

Ok, STOP, everyone, ENOUGH.  Look at the ENTIRE speech in context.  He was talking abou McCain's policies RIGHT before he said that pig/lipstick comment.  He was not demeaning Palin, not in the least.  I like Palin, she seems like a nice lady, maybe a little f'd up with her views, but still ok.  I would never vote for her though, especially after tonights interview with Gibson.  Doesn't know what Bush doctrine is???????????????? It is her own party!!!  Obama would not have made fun of Palin like that...if anything, the Dems are WAY more for women than the Repubs...come on...

My dad sent me this: he is travelling to Alaska on business. I said, same time as Palin.  He says, yea, she heard there was a PTA meeting on carrots vs peas for lunch meals...but, she is not pro-choice....

He def. thought it was funny :)

Anyways, lets talk about issues not political correctnes...(isnt that what repubs fight against ALL the time?)

Have a wondeful night, everyone!

Jake...isn't "Political Facts" rather an oxymoron?  I'm not sure any politician wants the truth known.

I will say this, it's time to stop dumbing down, folks. The world needs a good leader now with so many out of work, loosing homes, and an expensive war that needs to end. Get back to basics just like in real estate. Stop fighting over trivial insults, and start finding solutions to our nations problems. It is like two Realtors fighting over who's buyer was it anyway. Unproductive stuff.

Well, as with all things...it has to get Real Bad before change takes place and it gets better.  I don't think we've reached the "Real Bad" yet.  It might take another 8 to 10 years before this country gets "Foreclosed On".

This has turned into one of the nastiest campaigns I've seen in a long time. No body is talking about the issues. The only thing they can come up with is more mud to sling at the other side. Do I think Obama's comment was calculated. You betcha. It was done for the pure value of revving up his followers. Sure, it's a phrase that has been around forever...but coming on the heels of her speech...sorry, that was no slip up.

"He said but he really meant...."

Bleh, I'm sick of that kind of talk from both sides, all the "he/she hurt my feelings with that mean ole comment" stuff.  Grow up and say you what you mean.  Wait, that wouldn't be american politics.

I know who I am voting for.  Nov can't get here soon enough.  I am so glad during an election year that I don't have TV!

Well I have made my decision and it's McCain/Palin, she is great! The press don't like her because she has no dirt. What you see is what you get. She has more experience then Obama, Mayor and a Governor, she is one tough women. Obama hasn't managed a thing. Two years in the Senate and one has been on the campaign trail. What has he done,,,,, nothing! A smooth talker in front of a teleprompter. Sarah has ignited this country. GO Sarah Palin.

What I like about Sara is ONE thing.  She goes "against" the status quo and bucks the system.  I like that.  The whole system needs to be shuck up!!

I'm sure you meant that you haven't made a decision on who you would like to be the next President or Vice Presidence.

Brian, Barbara Bush called it the 'Silly Season' for a reason.  You can dress up a politician any way you want, even with lipstick, but they still seem to remain politicians.

Regardless who the president becomes, it's going to be extremely interesting to hear the "real facts" surrounding "who did it" on the Fannie and Freddie deal and all the other disputed rumors like surrounding ACORN.  That whole situation stinks to high heaven.  I'm tired of hearing about voting precinct's with 10,000 eligible legal age voters and 12,000 registered to vote, etc.
