I love my name tag!!

I love my name tag!

Ok I said it!  I like when people can take directly to me about real estate, I also like that they know my name right off.  I will admit that if I happen to be working outside and look well let's just say a little grubby I will opt out of the name tag.

I wish the world would wear name tags (insert Seinfeld comment here) ok not everyone wants to wear one, But let's consider a world of name tags let's say you like dressing your animals up like humans and your feel no one in your town understands that your dog looks just like Humphrey Bogart well if you had a name tag that said specialize in dressing my pet, well that just says it all.   I addition I like that if I am at a business and they have a name tag I immediately have the ability to talk to them personably like Hi Mike do you know where the _____ is?  I am even the person that wears the name tags that are passed out at any large event displaying Hello my name is _________.

It surprises me when I see agents I out and about without their name tags is it just because they are so sure the public knows they are agent that they don't need to?  Or is it a cool kid thing?  I will admit  it can be distracting when I am at the groceries store and someone has a question when I am trying to put in my pin number but I usually just say hold on let me do this before I try to answer your question.  Especially if I have already gotten the disapproving look from the casher and the blinking green letters saying wrong pin, :} the person asking the question usually understands.

So with that said lets all say it and say it strong.........Ware your name tags!  Find yours or make your own just remember if you where it they will talk.

I honestly didn't even think about it, but it's definitely a perk that everywhere you go, people know who you are and what you do. Do you ever get bothered giving out "free advice"?

I wonder how many opportunities I may have missed by not having my nametag on?

Sandy,

This is so important, especially for REALTORS...It's free advertising for Pete's sake! I have a REALTOR friend who ALWAYS wears her name tag...at the grocery store, at get togethers...it's just a part of her wardrobe...and she is kiling it in the biz!!! She is constantly getting business just by wearing her nametag...so this is pretty much a no brainer...a name tag makes you "approachable".

Sandy, I worked for a Broker who would tell agents when they complained about not have enough business to put on their name tag and walk up and down the Mall. It worked for a lot of the agents.

Good Post!

Over 2,000 homes sold…..

Yes, we "cool" folks feel like idiots with our banners on.  I work out daily with my Keller Williams shirt and I rarely if ever have a day whereby someone does not come up and asks about the market.

So you may not look so cool, but you will win over the pack everytime........

Sandy, I think you mean wear your name tag vs. ware, but yes it's a free billboard to let people in line at WalMart know you can help and who you are.

When I see a name tag, it's almost an invitaion to start a conversation.  That's the beginning of a future sale!

Re: Do you ever get bothered giving out "free advice"?

I can honestly say I am a talker/helper at heart so if someone wants to know something my knee jerk reaction is to help them.  If they want to know what a short sale is I don't have a problem telling them, If I'm in a rush I will say I blogged on that topic go to my blog (hand over blog card) and take a read.

 Thanks for the comment!

An unknown agent is a agent that won't last long in selling real estate.

I agree!  We have to stand proud everyone is looking at us as a group (Realtors) and wondering a.) Are they still in the business? b.) Are they still in the real estate know on all the changes?  If you have your name tag it says "I'm here and ask be about the real estate market".
