Sales are good, but it is not that simple.

My principal broker and I were talking about blogging the other day and discussing how everyone asks how the market is doing.  To be a Realtor you have to be an optimist, but I try to be honest when answering that question. We all know that things aren't like they were years ago, but I have only been a Realtor for about 4 years now.  I missed the red hot market when you put a sign in the yard and stood by it waiting for your cell phone to ring.  Anyway, they still are not as bad here as you would read in the papers or hear on television.  The biggest talk is about foreclosures, but if you look at the percentages in a historical perspective, it doesn't look all that bad.  We are now finding out that a lot of this has more to do with the products created and backed by mortgage securities and consumer confidence.  For the economists my perspective it is over simplified, but it would take more than most people want to read to explain it fully.

To be more informative, I have decided to post current Listings and Sales statistics from Greater Louisville Association of Realtors.  I plan to do this on a weekly basis; we will see how it goes.

In other news, there was an article in Business First about the Kentucky's wine industry.  My neighbors, who own Brooks Hill Winery, were on the front page in a photo tending their vines.  They put the vines in earlier this year and they are doing very well.  They have also added a pavilion and more sophisticated wines to their inventory.  They have also started having events at the winery.  Check them out.

Had a great weekend.  The weather was just about perfect.  I hope everyone is enjoying this great weather.
