Wow I'm writing this with a pen

Real Estate Agent with Lyon Real Estate

I just got a new computer, a Lenovo X61 convertable tablet. I can use it like a regular laptop or what I'm doing right now, writing on the screen With a pen, there are many applications that agents can use with the tablet, including signing contracts, taking notes at listing appointments. I'm not trying very hard for the computer to recognize my handwriting and I have often been told how dreadful my handwriting is. I'm sad that my trusty Sony Vaio is on it's last legs but I'm sure this new computer will be a winner. Written exclusively With the pen.

Hi Carolyn, this pen and tablet sound pretty cool and perhaps I can justify the cost when I buy my next laptop. Next on  my list is the iPhone. Take care.

I've had the computer less than a week but I really like it so far. I haven't done much with the pen feature yet other than write the original post, but I will. I'm also an appraiser and although I haven't been actively appraising, I will likely end of doing some appraisals this winter.  There are many cool software applications specifically for appraisers.

Hi Carolyn, the reason I type is because my handwriting is horrible, even in HS & College I would type before word processors:))So now my handwriting is so bad when I look at my notes I can't read them either:)))Technology is so ammazing.:))

Endre, my handwriting is horrible also.  I am very pleased how easily the tablet is recognizing my handwriting.  I am really liking this computer.

I had thought about going with a tablet several years ago. Instead I went with voice recognition software (VRS), specifically Dragon Naturally Speaking (DNS). The reason? I can talk a lot faster than I can write or type. I have Version 8, which is 99% accurate in the four voices for which I have it trained:

  • normal voice
  • sick-with-a-cold voice
  • margarita voice
  • need-to-get-this-done-in-a-hurry voice

My Partner also uses it, but he has only one voice.

If you ever find an error in my blog entries or comments, it's because I went back to edit a word or two and introduced a typo. Editing just one word or phrase is still faster with the keyboard than with VRS. But when I have thoughts on my mind and need to get them down on paper before they dissipate, there's nothing like VRS.
