What can you do to help your home sell?  How about Home Staging?  With a little thought you can make your home show better to potential buyers.

The following is quoted from the News Herald.

READY FOR THE SHOW.

Pick one highlight in a room, and stick to it. Mantels and windows make natural focal points, but the key is using paint and accessories to frame the area.

The seven elements of design are line, color, shape, value, texture, scale, and organic (plants or other natural materials). If something isn't working, look hard. Usually, one of the key elements is missing.

Don't try to match all the shades of one color when decorating a room. If blue is the color theme of the room, make sure that the blues in the room(the paint, carpeting, artwork, accessories, etc.) aren't the same, but that together, they create a beautiful palette that blends.

Preparing a house for sale.

Apply a fresh coat of paint to the front door.

Polish door hardware.

Purchase a new welcome mat.

Polish or repaint mailbox.

Make sure numbers are easy to read.

Clean and align gutters.

Pack family photos and personal collection.

Replace burned out light bulbs.

Tidy linen closets. Medicine cabinets, food pantries and storerooms.

Keep countertops cleared.

Keep mirrors, doors and light switch plates clean and free of fingerprints.

Remove excess furniture to make rooms look more spacious.

To make closets appear more spacious: Clear shoes and other items off the floor. Remove one-third to one-half the clothing. Store in boxes off-site.

Remove pet food bowls from the floor.

Remove kids' artwork, magnets and to-do lists from the refrigerator.
