Leapfish: Jumping the Shark in Telemarketing!

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Realty Arts NC Broker License #235526

I replied to Beau Ferguson's blog on Leapfish last week, saying I may check them out.

That was then.  This is now.  I am no longer curious.

Before I had a chance to check Leapfish out, I got another call.  "No Thanks."

And another call, "No Thanks, and please take me off your list."

Leapfish, "Sure, no problem."

And an email.

And another call, with another promise to take me off the list...

And another call, where I had to hang up on the kid, who tried to tell me that I need to respect the Leapfish business model which is apparently based on abusive telemarketing.  I don't usually hang up on people, but he seemed to REALLY want to hear that "Click," and "If you want to make a call..."  Who am I to deny a young feller the simple pleasures in life when they are so easily delivered?

And another call today, which after the typical exchange of bon mots led to, "Have you considered doing business with Leapfish?"

Me: "I think it is safe to say that your business practice of harassing me regularly from a line with Caller ID Block after promises to cease has effectively persuaded me that I will most likely NEVER do business with Leapfish."

"oh?"

Me:  "Well, if I desperately need a kidney transplant, and you have a good match, I might consider it."

It's a shame.  Suzanne seemed like an earnest and articulate high-energy person.  I hope she soon gets hooked up with an outfit with a little more common sense...

Sorry to see you left out.  I will give them your number when they call tomorrow.  And Tuesday, and Wednesday, and Thanksgiving day.... ad infinitum....

And, someone even worked in "bedwetter..."

These bastards keep calling me and pissing me off.  I am going to write an computer program that repeatedly dials their phone number and then a random extension.  Once connected, it will play some useless sounds over the line.  If you let the program run while you are out or at work, they will be gettng hundreds of useless calls to their 1-800 number (which they have to pay for).  That should keep them occupied and teach them a lesson.  If you are pissed off and want to participate in the payback (it doesn't cost you a dime to call toll-free) please email telemarketerpayback@yahoo.com for a free copy of the program.

They used to be a domain appraisal and looks like they still are.  Try putting in activerain.com as the search value and it give you a value also.  here is some history but its not the same group of people.

I told them no several times and told them I'm on the do not call list.  They didn't seem to care.  Glad to know I'm not the only one.

Check out my comment here http://activerain.com/blogsview/794294/LeapFish-Questions-and-Comments regarding the "Management" team at Leapfish (DotNext, Eperks, Brabus Ventures).  It would be informative to see the actual contract between Leapfish and a keyword "investor".  Is anybody who purchased Leapfish keywords willing to share the whole info package here?

Robert,

Gotta say, you did more homework than I did.  My research was limited to checking my pulse and BP every time these bozos bothered me...

<Witty Name Goes Here>

I got an ad 2day from a relator...stuck to my door...it had been there for almost a week leting any would be thief know I wasnt home...I did a google search and got here to find the realtor and complain. There is nothing I can do! I then did a marketing search to see how it is you guys market. This is a very interesting blog. I did a search and found this...

I wonder how many of you avtually read the do not call registry information...

http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/alerts/alt107.shtm

"

  1. Can I register my business phone number or a fax number?

  2. The National Do Not Call Registry is only for personal phone numbers. Business-to-business calls and faxes are not covered by the National Do Not Call Registry.

If you put your cell number on an advertisement...ie a website, you will likely get calls I can see Mikes on this site. The do not call registry is not for you guys...its fr us that dont want to hear from you!!! I want to start a do not put crap on my door registry!!!...the mail is bad enough from you guys already I am off to check out this leap fish thing and then find a way to stop this paper marketing campain in my neighborhood

Mike,

Thank you for the info on this post.   I recently got my first call from Leapfish and wanted to investigate on AR and see what the community thought.    Your post and the comments received provided me with the answers I was looking for.

Gerry,

Since posting this they have called me 3 or 4 more times.

Perky, "Have you heard of LeaPFish?"  Me, "Yes.  Yes, I have."

I usually have a nice conversation with a very nice person, and we part friends after I clarify that they couldn't buy my business after harrassing me as they have.  All in fun.

Just got a call from them...they are searching Active Rain for leads....researched Leapfish online while listening to the lady....the first thing that comes up says LEAPFISH SCAM...

I think more than just telemarketing...there are other questionable practices.

Adam,

My very nice conversation with the very nice person typically touches on the questionable ethicis of the company considering the sales tactics used.

What else is going on?

Leapfish or something fishy?

I have been getting calls since November.  Today I finally listened to their spill.  Very aggressive gal thought she was reeling in a big fish.  She had to have me talk to a manager that was going to give the best price, kinda thought I might be driving the leapfish car...Now I know where all the used car salespeople are now working.

As the pitch increased intensity , I went to AR to see what others were saying.  I think we are all feeling the same hard sell.  In my book if you have to sell it that hard, there is something wrong with the company.

In the end cost were down 30% but when I told them I would think about it....they seemed abit miffed.;-(   They didn't find me in the phone book, so if they can find me on the internet then I think clients will too.

Well!  The next time they call, I will take the challenge and see how much better a quote I can get before I let them down...

You came to the right place, of course!
