Portland used to have so many great advertising murals that have faded with time and never replaced. Then there are new ads in other places, I would love to see murals like this put up in Portland or someone take these old ads that have become warn with time and repaint them and make them new again.
I would love to see the ads from the early 1900's that were here.
Hi Fred, Oh, I see soooo many things. I think I would have to stand in front of this mural for some time to see all there is to see. I think there is some real history there. What a beautiful work of art! Thanks for sharing!
Jason - Well, do you have a camera? That is the first step. :-8
Steve - The great thing about a mural like this is you can see most anything you want to. Do you see the Oregon map?
Cecily - Not on a speechless Sunday, but that is a great idea for a future post.
Bo - Thanks, I think it is pretty neat.
Todd - I remember some of those early murals. It would be great to see them again.
Sandy - Feel free to visit and stare. Hope your New Year is spectular.
Greg - You mean it isn't? Thanks big guy!
What a beautiful mural . . . looks like something to visit on my next trip to Springfied (and yes I'd love to hear more about it!)
Margaret - I will definitely research and get something up about the mural.
Okay, Fred...is their something going on between you and Margaret??? Hmmm..she seems to be making a lot of trips to your hometown recently....spill it!
Cecily - I keep telling her I will meet her at the Macleay Country Inn, but she never shows up....how about you???
Fred- Great photo! What a wonderful mural. I love when the smaller paintings put together make a bigger painting. LOVE your part of the country! Thanks for sharing!
Elaine - Murals are a really great form or art but they are sure hard to frame. I also like the way that smaller parts make the whole on this one.
Fred that looks great. I love looking at photos that have such contrast to them. Thanks for posting.
Fred, I am pretty sure I have seen that mural in person when I lived in Eugene. It's been 8 years.
Shirley - Why did you leave? Although San Antonio is a very pretty area.
Leslie - Right you are. I am going to post the story of the mural this week.
Marchel - Great mural, isn't it?
Eugene, next door to Springfield, has a lot of great murals too. The time and talent that goes into these murals is amazing. Below is a picture of a mural on the back of a building at 11th Avenue and City View in Eugene.
You are right Rick. The area has a lot of great art and great artists. Thanks for the addition.
