TORONTO - Winter City - Winterlicious

By
Real Estate Agent with Sutton Group-Associates Realty Inc., Brokerage

The WinterCity Festival is a celebration of Culture and Cuisine.
It runs from January 30th to February 12, 2009 and is presented by the Royal Bank of Canada.

Diversity and incomparable culinary experiences await you; and the City showcases its vibrant art scene.

There is free entertainment at Nathan Phillips Square (concerts and street theatre); there are various attractions throughout Toronto, and there is, of course, Winterlicious - mouth-watering culinary experiences, presented by over 150 restaurants, with a prix-fixe menu.  Lunches start at about $15 and dinner starts at about $25 - for a 3 course meal, per person.  Incredible value, at incredible restaurants.

You can find additional information here.

You can find a list of restaurants here.

Make your reservations now.
Call a friend, or 3; travel to Italy, Greece, Japan, Thailand, China - and so many other great countries (culinarily (?) speaking, of course) and get out there and have some Winter fun.

This is Toronto's favourite culinary experience. Don't be left out in the cold.

Sylvie, I have been to Toronto once, in the Summer, I loved it. Stayed right downtown.  I love your pictures, I will take the dessert in picture number 3 ;0)

Thanks, Brian. You should visit.  You would love the City (maybe not right this second - unless you love 8 feet tall piles of snow everywhere). :)  Come next week, we'll be back to the usual 3 feet. LOL :)

Audrey, Toronto is a great City, and I have to admit, I prefer it in the Summer too, but I'm getting more adventurous in my old age, and actually enjoying some Winter activities - especially walking to the different restaurants. ;)

Sylvie, you are making me hungry!  Even though we are just 90 minutes away, we hardly ever seem to make it down to TO except for airport runs now and then.  Just yesterday, hubby and I were talking about booking a room for a couple of nights this spring to play tourist.  You are going to have to give me a short-list of restaurants after you expore these great options.

Liz, you better book more than 2 days at the end of your trip here, so I can show you around... there's always something happening in Toronto, but Winterlicious is great value (for your wallet, but not necessarily for your waist line). :)

Marg, even I want to book myself into a hotel room and play tourist for a few days.  I live right here, and I never get to do/see as much as I would like.  It's a great City and definitely worth playing tourist in.

I can give you a list of great restaurants any time. Just let me know what type of cuisine you like, and I'll give you a list, plus a few you may not have been to yet. :)
By the way, I am always planning to go to Collingwood too, and it's been about 8 years since the last time I was there.  We just have to plan it, put it in our daytimers, and DO IT!! :)

Sylvie - fun for a desert rat like me to enjoy winterlicious pics!  Did you really have to throw those food pics in, though?  Making me hungry!

Virginia, that's what it's all about.  Great restaurants showing off great food, at extremely low prices.  And when you're neck deep in snow, some photos of yummy food, make you warm all over. :))

Sylvie, have you checked out any Winterlicious restaurants yet this year? If so, were they good? I've been wanting to go but haven't decided where to check out yet.

Kathy, I don't know if I could handle living anywhere else.  After getting used to the pace of a big city, going to the cottage/getting away for even 1 week is way too slow for me (although I know I need it, and probably should do it more often).

Emer S, I have been to Bar Italia, on College Street @ Clinton, a few doors away from The Dip (Diplomatico Cafe); and also Senses (at the Soho Metropolitan Hotel).  They are both good - depending on what you're looking for.

My parents are visiting, so I will probably check out a couple more in the next few days.
I'll keep you informed. :)
