Farming for juicy profits:

•·         The important thing about farming is the farm! It is important to have a schedule for farming activities.

•·         Dress the part.  Ware your very best cloths, look and act important. You are there for a reason, you have a goal to reach and you intend to satisfy your objective.

•·         Have the right tools; carry a legal size clip board, have a digital camera hanging from your neck.  Walking with a clip board in your hands seems to give you authority it is a mystic attention getter.

When I started in the real estate business in the 70's, I was impatient, I wanted faster results.  I was hungry for business and knowledge.

I started in Harford County Maryland.  It was my daily goal to talk to 10 new people a day, to build my buyer and seller lists and to create business.

One thing I know for sure, that most people would give a stranger at about 5 seconds of their attention if you ask the right questions.

Those questions are; "I am lost, can you help me", and, "I am new in this business,"

So I started out in my farm and would enter any public place, restaurants, post offices, stores, gas stations etc.

It was my goal to talk to 10 people a day abut real estate.

Hello, I wonder if you can help me, I am new in the real estate  business, do you know anyone interested in selling or buying properties.

That simple questions help me create almost immediate business.  My first month in my farm was one of the most exciting times of my life.

I listed a motel for sale and 40 acres, controlled and subdivided 17 acres and sold several houses.

Farming is a great way to create business.  Be prepared, have a goal of talking to 10 people a day, look the part, be friendly and ready to do business.

Thanks for the "Back to Basics" post.  We all need the reminder that technology alone is not the only answer.
