Today is another great day and as we continue our Black History Month celebration by providing tidbits or information nuggets. Our intent is the share information which celebrates African-Americans contribution to building our nation. As a diverse company, we take great pride of celebrating all cultures and our goal is not to be controversial or provide opinion, etc. .........even though that's the spirit of Blogging. Our basic our aim, in particular with our themes of highlighting various cultures is to share SOLID KNOWLEDGE that hopefully will aid your quest of learning something that perhaps you never knew, or reminding you of things you may have forgotten.
Like most cultures, African-American's enjoy a rich history but today's Blog was inspired by a documentary I saw this afternoon (those who know me, know this time of the year I am a loyal supporter of the Pan African Film Festival which is held in Los Angeles)......THE REAL GREAT DEBATERS.
Some of you may have seen the film which starred Denzel Washington, and if so you have a reference point. For those who didn't see it but enjoy history - THE REAL GREAT DEBATERS simply documents the actual account which tells the story of the small black college in Marshall, Texas - Wiley College and their famous debate team and how in 1935, they won the National Debate Championship by defeating the University of Southern California (USC), even though the movie portrayed Harvard.
Anyway, explore this piece of African-American history which is also a great nugget of American History.
