Hello Columbus, OH Homeowners!,

Are you dry? The funny thing about Columbus, OH weather is the fact that we live in a valley surrounded by trees with the exception of Michigan. Every winter we get snow, ice and sometimes high winds that cause extensive damage to Homeowner properties.

Felt paper is what is on my mind right now. How do you know to pick the right gauge? Pitch of your roof.
The standard rule of thumb would be that the higher the pitch, the heavier the felt paper.

Standard pitch, you would use a 15 LB felt paper. Steep or higher pitch, you would use 30 LB felt. Simple and effective. Just make sure that you put it on because as of February, 2009 it is considered code and MUST be installed. Don't let a contractor say otherwise.

Lastly,  a quick note to see if you got any kind of damage, that is water damage. Look at all of your ceilings in your home and see if there are any water spots here, there. If there is, then there is a good chance that you probably have minimal water damage and need a local and reputable contractor such as Burgess & Vest Roofing and Home Restoration Company take a quick look.

Until next time!

Fred Baisden.
