Fran's Friday Forum...Final February Fling For Finding Fame...!!!

By
Title Insurance with Patriot Land Transfer, Inc.

So I had one feature post this week...should have had two...and back to back at that...gurus must be sleeping or taking longer breaks...! They still haven't taken me up on my recommended algorithm...using a ratio of views to clicks...!!!

This weekend we celebrate the ending of February and the beginning of March...

You can almost hear the 'crack of the bat' and the umpire yelling, "PLAY BALL"...!!!

Congress can learn a lot from baseball...

***You need to plan, spring train, gather the right players, develop team chemistry, be ready to play all nine innings before you can field a competitive team...

***Baseball is all about PITCHING...and great pitching isn't 'talked about'...it is thrown...

***Most baseball is played outside...and spontaneously...you can't plan a win in a back room and you need to know your oppositions strengths and weaknesses...

***Baseball is played with 9 players at a time...and for nine innings...5 players wanting to win is not as good as all 9 playing together...and playing well for a few of the 9 innings won't guarantee a win...

***The playing field must be level...it can't favor one team over another, or one player over another...

***Managers, coaches, and even bat boys must work together to assist players in maximizing every pitch...

***There is a time to steal, and a time to stay put...in any event you can never steal first...

***You need balls, lots of balls to play an official big league game...

***Fans come before the team...without fans, there would still be baseball, but there wouldn't be big paychecks...or probably steroids, for that matter...

***You don't know the final score in a baseball game until the last pitch is thrown...

***If you only hit once for every three times you go to bat, you're a winner...if you strike out too often, you won't be around long...

***There are many people watching baseball, keeping score, and keeping statistics...you can't get away with being mediocre...

Finally, only two teams end up in the World Series...and only one walks away a winner...!!!

Funny Fran, fearless, flawless, fantastic, featured Fran. I can smell the baseball in the air. I just spoke with an old friend from my happy sporting days discussing the doctor's diagnosis on our pains. My knees, hips and lower back belong to a middle aged man who spent years hovering over home signalling calls to the pitcher and infield. His shoulder bears the scars of a short stop who could throw to first while falling toward third like most only dream of ... I still hear the crack of the wooden bats that replaced the ding of the aluminum ... smell the popcorn ... smell the dirt and the chemicals in the grass! I'm so ready for some real ball!

Fran I am a baseball nut and I over-use baseball analogies all of the time in sales calls. I even play APBA baseball!

I am a nut. I agree with you, congress should learn from baseball and keep their noses out of it!

Got to tell you.....unless I'm going to the ballpark, baseball season signifies the end of sports until NFL training camps and college football.  More family time as well, I suppose, but baseball and golf on TV....forget it brother....sorry that I don't share your sentiment.  If the Cubs make the playoffs, then I'll amend my comments, but other than that...forget it.

If only Congress was straightforward and as easy to watch as baseball.  The rules of governing have gotten way too confusing for the 'average' fan.

Coming from the champion Phillies area, I wonder Fran how many balls are typically used in a game. Must be a bunch.

Gary: Years ago I had heard they use about 90 balls for a big league game. I wouldn't be surprised if these days that figure is above 100, maybe as high as 120...! :)

Sharon: You're making me hungry! I can actually smell those tube steaks a cooking...! :)

Thanks,   Fran
