Get to know Tom Craten

One would make the assertion that I don't fit the REALTOR mold; I'm quiet, and generally don't like drawing attention to myself. The irony of my life is that for over 35 years, I've chosen to stay in a career which effectively keeps me in the limelight on a daily basis. In the early 90's, I was the president of The Executive Association of Baltimore, and before we sold the company, I was one of the principals of a small boutique real estate firm in North Baltimore (W. H. C. Wilson & Co). I feel blessed to be in this career, because along with guiding people along their particular paths, they've given so much back in return. I truly love what I do.

Over the years, I've obtained most of the professional designations that are made available to our industry. In addition, I've received extensive training in photography at the Maryland Institute College of Art, and graphic design at the Parsons School of Design in New York. I've committed to utilizing the best professional software (InDesign) to showcase my listings and to ensure that each property's unique characteristics are brought to the forefront. In essence, I control all aspects of a property's descriptive story and pictorial display, which guarantees the homeowner that the marketing of their home will clearly stand apart from the masses.

Along the way, I've raised a family, coached girls & boys basketball, tagged along at scout camps, and stood on the sidelines of countless sporting events until I had no feeling left in my feet. My children (Sarah & Adam) are so different, yet, they both have a common thread of sweetness and compassion which is so gratifying to see.

I welcome the opportunity to be of service to Buyers and Sellers alike. No property or pocketbook is too small. I'm enthusiastic for each and every opportunity that comes my way...it's the way I've conducted my business over these many years...it's really the only way I know how.

Besides providing service to Sellers as explained above, I particularly relish the chance to guide Buyers on the way to a better place...a better life. I listen extremely well, and have the ability to hone in rather quickly to the needs of my client. Buying a home is a matter of the heart. My goal is to know what's in yours, and then to find homes that make that heart beat faster. I work to understand who you are and how a home defines that. I help you weigh your options...perhaps balance your passion with a little objective logic.
