"Staging is only for High End Properties" is what one agent said to a home seller just before I walked in to do a vacant walkthrough on a charming 1945 Charleston bungalo.  I'm sure this made the seller feel inspired considering he had already hired me for the job based on a ballpark number and a required time table of staging only 2 days after walkthrough.  You see, I had worked with this seller about a year before when he was selling a downtown property.  The market here is much like other markets.  If you aren't actively doing everything you can from presentation to marketing then your house just isn't going to sell.  This client had done his research and based on all reports from many financial experts was advised that staging was perhaps the most important part of listing.  I agree...

45 King Street is the perfect opportunity to live in the luxurious area of South of Broad and build your dream home in Charleston. This is one of the largest lots in the area measuring 0.36 acres and shaped like a flag. It is adjacent to three Legare Street properties at the rear of the lot. The current home is a tear down but a once in a life time opportunity to build in such a desirable part of town. The owner has navigated local boards and has demolition and tree removal permits in hand to clear the lot providing a blank canvas for the new owner to build their ideal home. Santee, a 160 pound loggerhead turtle, was released in the Isle of Palms County Park this Saturday after a nine month recovery. She was one of three but had the hardest time being returned back to the ocean and was carried by two of her handlers. She was found by a fisherman in September in critical condition and spent nine months at the South Carolina Aquarium recovering from an intestinal problem. On Friday hundreds of people gathered around to watch Santee's release. This is just one example of the amazing events that take place in Charleston and how dedicated we are to perserving the natural wildlife. For more details on the turtle's release this weekend visit Herald Online's article.

Plus, as someone that lives on a strike zone, I seem to be glued to the tube when one is brewing. I'm SO glad the number is actually that low.  Water and pressure is very POWERFUL!  I'm happy to pay for my flood insurance and hope I NEVER am talking to my agent about a claim.  I love a great rainstorm but leave the...

The National Trust for Historic Preservation has recently released its annual list of America’s 11 most endangered historic places and sadly Charleston has made the list. Charleston was placed on the list due to the “expanding cruise ship tourism could jeopardize the historic character of the city”. The increasing popularity of the “Fantasy” cruise has caused members of Charleston’s old quarter to file suit against Carnival Cruise lines. They cited how the 1,026 cabin has affected their community and how the local government has not enforced any rules mandating the behavior of visitors. The good news is that the city is only placed on “watch status” meaning that the threat is growing but is not permanent if the citizen’s and politicians work to find a balance. The NTHP has brainstormed ...

This is truly one of a kind home for Charleston because its unique architecture breaks away from the traditional southern style most are accustomed to. 2037 Lake Shore Drive is located on a James Island, hidden on a marsh front street. The home was built by Elliot Constantine and restored in 2007 by a nationally acclaimed interior designer. It might look familiar as it was featured on the cover of Charleston Magazine in the spring of 2009 for its modern flair. Very open, windows line the walls making the rooms feel more spacious yet comfortable at the same time. The master suit offers a wrap-around closet and spa styled shower, this is luxurious living at its best.  Features: 3 Bed 2 Bath 2,226 Square Feet Built 1974, remodeled 2007 Privacy fence enclosing an in-ground pool Deck and cov...

It’s no secret that right now the real estate market nation wide is at a low point, but what does the future hold for the market. Currently prices are at an all time low so why aren’t more people purchasing homes? With these prices you would think more buyers would be taking advantage of this but the harsh reality is that while they are cheap, so are paychecks. In 2011 it shows that 1st quarter prices have been the lowest since the market has taken a downward turn. Data shows that the U.S. National Home Price Index is down 4.2%, and this is even after a 3.6% drop in the last three months of 2010. To put things in perspective compared to this time last year prices were up 5.1%. To view the positive, buyers should be taking advantage of these low prices. They will not stay this low foreve...
