Google 101 Lessons: How to use inurl to make up for our lacking current site search support. The inurl Google feature is very useful for searching our site (I use this all the time). We're working on site wide search for ActiveRain but, until we get that done (hopefully next week sometime) you can use one of Googles Advanced Search Operators to help you out. If you wanted to search for "bob" on ActiveRain you'd simply enter inurl:activerain bob This tells google to only return results that have "activerain" in the actual url.

We just finished implementing another way to help members of the ActiveRain Real Estate Network promote themselves and their businesses online. As of this morning we are now submitting profiles of members (real estate agents and brokers) into one of Google's newest services, Google Base (beta). What is google base? To quote Google, "Google Base is a place where you can post all types of content and have it show up on Google." It's essentially a big searchable database of structured content. google: ActiveRain and search engine rankings

Earlier today, Ben Kakimoto wrote a blog post about how his profile on the ActiveRain Real Estate Network is now one of the top ranking pages in Google for the key phrase "John L Scott Seattle", ranking just ahead of his main web site. Despite the young age of this network (less than 6 weeks) old, many of the profiles are seeing high rankings in Google for a huge variety of keywords. To us this isn't surprising at all given that this site was designed to allow search engines to find and index member profiles efficiently (SEO).
