winter: It's All But Over, Speechless Sunday - 04/07/13 06:38 AM
It's All But Over, Speechless Sunday

Spring has sprung everywhere, the passing of March 21st officially announced Spring, the snow has melted, Easter is over, the robins are back and Ed Silva in Connecticut has even been on the links. Somebody just forgot to send the memo to Mother Nature's weather department!
While we are enjoying sunny days and milder temperatures, it's still cold out there and that wind is darn chilly at times. We have had a few really nice warm days but so far they have just been teasers for what's to come.
I know, I know, soon … (5 comments)

winter: The Advantages Of The Big Dump - 02/09/13 11:12 PM
The Advantages Of The Big Dump
Yes, Old Man Winter flexed his muscles, laughed at the old groundhog calling for an early Spring and dumped about 14 inches of that white stuff down on us. Much more in some parts of States we've heard.
It caused havoc on the roadways, people's back and quite a few dents in the lines of car designs but there is a positive side and many advantages to the big dump.
The snowmobile and ski fanatics are thrilled with the conditions of the trails, the ski operators and owners are very thankful after the drought of the last few … (14 comments)

Where Oh Where Has Our Little Friend Gone? The weather is crisper, the leaves are falling and everyone is hunkering down for the winter months ahead. We've noticed fewer and fewer birds flying around and today we noticed....our little friend is missing.Did he go south for the winter too?

Yet another (should be unnecessary) reminder....
Pay attention folks. This isn't rocket science or brain surgery.

What is this:

If you said a candle, I'll accept that, but it's actually an unlit candle. It's from … (0 comments)

winter: Brampton, Ontario, Canada Is A Winter Wonderland - 01/15/11 11:42 AM
Brampton, Ontario, Canada Is A Winter WonderlandAnother snowfall hit The City of Brampton, Ontario, Canada but the city does it's best to keep our streets clear and safe.  They do a pretty good job of it too.

The City of Brampton, Ontario, Canada asks its residence for their co-operation during the snowy winter months. Here are a few reminders:  - Don't stack your garbage on top of snow banks.  It is hard enough for the garbage men to make their rounds during the winter months without mountain climbing as well- Do not park on the roadways until … (12 comments)

winter: Don't Believe Everything You Are Told or Read - 10/23/10 04:03 AM
Don't Believe Everything You Are Told or Read
It won't be long before Old Man Winter arrives.  Now is the time to prepare your home for the freezing weather ahead.  Besides the normal things you do like having the furnace serviced, raking the leaves, cleaning the eavestroughs etc., one of the most important things to remember is to shut off all of your exterior water taps.
You need to find the interior tap that shuts off the outside tap.  After turning off that tap you need to turn on the outside tap and let any trapped water escape.  If you forget … (14 comments)

Happy Groundhog Day Active Rainers and Friends

Did you hear the news Punxsutawney Phil from Gobblers Knob is at it again.

We hear over and over that lands from the north Canada are the cause of these long cold snowy winters.  Well, we went searching and found Willy the groundhog to get his predictions.

Willy thinks that Phil is just a little too fat and lazy and would sleep to Summer if he could.See you soon...
