As I am sure you have heard by now, there is fantastic news for underwater homeowners and I am trying to get the word out to those who may be in need! On January 1, 2013, Congress passed a year long extension of the Mortgage Forgiveness Debt Relief. Originally passed in 2007, the Mortgage Forgiveness Debt Relief Act exempts qualifying homeowners from paying taxes on mortgage debt forgiven during a short sale, loan modification or foreclosure.
