kennesaw: Short Sale? Consider your credit. - 03/17/10 05:07 AM
Do you need to sell your home for less than what is owed?  This is possible to do and it can be a good alternative to foreclosure or simply mailing the house keys to the lender.  With a short sale there will be a ding to your credit but it will be much less than having a foreclosure.  After a foreclosure the minimum time to qualify for a new mortgage will be 2-3 years.  After a short sale it would be very feasible to qualify again in a year or maybe even less. Every situation is different and a short sale may … (0 comments)

Kennesaw Ga.- Honest Car repair at Rapid Rotation!

Honest car repair shops are few and far between.  A few years ago I was having problems getting my car to pass Ga. emmissions. Rapid Rotation was recomended to me and the owner, Jeff Starling, took a look at the Jag made a few minor repairs and adjustments. The total cost was about $100. Anytime you can get a Jag in and out of the shop for $100 there is something good going on.

A few days ago my wifes mini van started running really rough. … (1 comments)

Kennesaw, Marietta, Ga. Hike up Kennesaw Mountain Last Saturday in the midst of our annual snow day event, we decided to hike up Kennesaw Mountain with some friends. We met them at their home at "The Gates at Parkside Village". ** This is a fairly new complex of beautiful townhomes, located right across the street from Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield National Park.  We were able to walk out of the complex and get on the trail directly  the street. It was pretty slick from the ice and snow so it was a pretty good workout to make it to the top of the mountain. … (0 comments)

kennesaw: Selling a Home in Todays Market, part 2 - 12/02/08 07:42 AM

Selling a home in today's market, Part 2

Today's topics - Pricing strategies and making your home stand out
Recently, I had the pleasure of doing an adult ed. home buyers class for the Marietta Community School. I have decided to take some of my outline notes and form the into a blog series for home sellers.

The class was actually a "For Sale by Owner" class. The content of this series will be more along the lines of selling by owner. However, I think there will be some good marketing ideas here that other agents might … (6 comments)

kennesaw: Dave Ramsey - You fix You! - 10/08/08 05:42 AM
Can Washington fix things and what are our own attitudes?  As some of you may know, I am a fan of financial advisor Dave Ramsey.Sometimes I don't agree with him 100% but I certainly can't argue with his success or common sense approaches to financial matters.  Last week I posted Dave's plan for the financial crisis. Dave Ramsey's Common Sense for Economy - act now
Now that current plan is signed what does Dave think?
YOU fix you!
Monday, Oct 06
Question: Dave talks about something that he finds very disturbing. It has to do with people's attitudes toward Washington, and … (3 comments)

kennesaw: Do you know the "Bush Doctrine"? Charlie Gibson Doesn't - 09/13/08 05:22 AM
According to wikipedia  "The first usage of the term may have been when conservative commentator Charles Krauthammer used the term in February 2001 to refer to the president's unilateral approach to national missile defense well before September 11th"
Read the entire wikipedia article here
That's right.  The term was coined before the attacks of Sept 11 and before the policy of anticipatory defense. According to both wikipedia and to Charles Krauthammer there have been several different variants of "Bush Doctrine".  the idea of anticipatory defense is only one of them and not the most recent.  Read Charles Krauthammers article about Bush Doctrine and Charlie … (8 comments)

kennesaw: 90 Day listing? Not likely - 09/12/08 07:32 AM
Here is a link to an article on Realtor Magazine online and first published in "Business Week" .  It lists the top 10 fastest selling zip codes in the entire U.S.
To be in the top 10 the average days on market would need to be 91 days! So where do people get this idea about a 90 day listing being average or normal?  I'm not sure.  Our local mls requires a minimum of 90 day listing period to even input the home into the mls.
So is 90 days a reasonable time frame? Not according to this article (unless you happen … (3 comments)

kennesaw: A few car buying tips - 04/10/08 03:15 AM
In my life before real estate I was in the car business. Its a terrible business to be in but that's a different story.  Walking in to a car dealership actually really makes me nauseous. I got tired of having to beat people up (figuratively) to make a sale, putting up with obnoxious sales manages was a whole other story.
I much prefer helping people make sound financial decisions regarding the purchase or sale of their home.
If you are in the market to buy a car here are a few tips that I would give, In no particular order :

kennesaw: Big company or small? - 11/30/07 03:30 AM
What is the value of a "brand name"?  Being with REmax my entire career I have been trained that the brand is quite powerful to the point of being irreplaceable.
I know that there are many of you out there that are quite successful iwth big brand name brokerages and also being totally your own boss with your own brokerage.
I'd like to get ideas from some you what is the value of the brand name?
How does it effect ability to attract new listings?
I suspect that the brand name has less effect on attracting buyers but soem ideas there as well.
All opinions … (9 comments)

kennesaw: Should You Sell In a buyers Market? - 11/01/07 06:46 AM
Should you sell in a buyers market? ...... There is no question that right now we are n a buyers market.  If you don't have a home to sell then don't wait to buy. Interest rates are still very low and inventories are up, making it a great time to buy a home.
But what if you have a home to sell first?  If you are moving up to a more expensive home the time has never been better!  No, I haven't lost my mind.  Just do the math with me. Last month there were 532 single family homes sold in … (3 comments)
