Even though we are in a recession, the Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania, fared better in the housing market than the state and the nation according to the 2010 Census figures. This includes both Northampton and Lehigh Counties.
It showed that the region's vacancy rates were lowest of vacant housing in the state. That is great news for the area! What this means is that a rise in vacancy rates can bring down property values and quality of life.

The Lehigh Valley is currently going through a January thaw. Right now the temperatures are in the mid 50's and it is raining. Sounds like typical spring weather, right?
You're right, it is typical spring weather, but this is January, the middle of winter. It's usually cold, windy and snowy this time of year.
It seems like some of nature has been fooled it is spring.
Yesterday, while out showing homes, one of the homes had a large open area next to it. Would you believe I saw robins in that field. Not one or two, but (4 comments)
'Tis the Christmas season and you keep singing "Jingle Bells". You would love to experience a horse-drawn carriage ride, hear the clip clop of the horses hooves and see the Christmas lights without the confines of a car.
The Lehigh Valley offers several different horse-drawn carriage rides.
For the first-time this year, you can enjoy the Lights in the Parkway in Allentown on a horse-drawn carriage ride.
Or, how about carriage rides through the historic area of downtown Bethlehem. Enjoy the traditional white Christmas lights, the sound of carols and the sound of hoofbeats on Bethlehem's historic city streets. (12 comments)

The Trexler Nature Preserve has opened for all to enjoy in the Lehigh Valley area in Pennsylvania.
Gen. Harry C. Trexler, who died in 1993 and was Lehigh County's most influential citizen, left more than 1,100 acres in the Schnecksville area to the people of the county to enjoy the great outdoors. He wanted to help conserve some of our wildlife in the proper setting. Gen. Trexler loved the outdoors and gave the property to share his love of the outdoors with his fellow people and future generations.

Yesterday, parts of the Lehigh Valley and the Poconos here in Pennsylvania saw their first snow. Yes, I said the dreaded four letter word, SNOW. (I have to admit, it does look pretty, though.) The funny thing is, this is October, not December.
Our area doesn't usually see snow in October. It has been unusually cold this week. The temperatures have been at 40 degrees or the upper 30's. Our normal highs for this month tend to be in the low 60's. Quite a big difference I would say.
The forecast through the weekend is for more snow (12 comments)
