Here in the Brevard area of western North Carolina, there are plenty of ways to "get away from it all". For some, it's a heart thumping ride on a mountain bike, for others it's hiking. Some people just want to sit in a quiet spot with a good book and some see fly fishing at the top of the list. These properties have it all!

brevard nc real estate: A Little Gift From Life - 06/25/11 02:13 AM
Once in awhile life gives us a little gift, like being in the right place at the right time. It happened to Robert the other day when he was out at Connestee Falls Country Club, just south of Brevard, NC. He had just left an an appointment where he listed three lots for sale in Connestee and was driving along one of the main roads inside the development when he saw a deer out of the corner of his eye. It's not at all unusual to see deer when you're in Connestee. They're like squirrels...they're every where! But what came next … (3 comments)

brevard nc real estate: A clear cut case of underestimating..... - 06/09/11 12:58 PM
When you've been in the real estate business for more than a day, you've probably accumulated various lists with the names and addresses of people you know, people you've done business with, people you'd like to do business with, vendors.....and on and on and on. Then there are all the places that you market yourself and your properties like your website, various posting sites, email signatures, magazine websites, and all the way back to the basic things like business cards and yard signs.
If you really want to get an idea of how many places your name and "branding" shows up, … (15 comments)

brevard nc real estate: We've moved! - 06/04/11 02:08 AM
In any relationship, knowing you're with the right partner is important and being in the real estate business is no different. So on June 1, Robert and I left Keller Williams and moved to Looking Glass Realty, LLC.  The two firms couldn't be more different and after being courted by several real estate companies in the Brevard, NC area, we came to the conclusion that Looking Glass was the best fit for the way we do business, how we see the future of real estate, and to coin the street term... how we roll.
It wasn't a decision we came to … (5 comments)

brevard nc real estate: The Power of Pricing - 04/18/11 10:40 AM
Sellers:"I'm not going to give my house away"
Buyers: "I'm looking for a bargain".
I wish I had a dollar for every time I heard those comments from sellers and buyers.  I haven't met a seller yet who says "Heck yea...let's just give it away to first person with a pulse". Likewise, I've never once had a buyer tell me they want to pay too much for a house, no matter what. But the first time we meet with a seller or a buyer I can guarantee that we'll hear one of those statements.
In today's market, it's the buyer who … (4 comments)

brevard nc real estate: Brevard NC Market Report - March 2011 - 04/11/11 03:44 AM

In March 2011 there 28 single family residential closings in Transylvania County, compared to 15 the year before. We believe the increase in sales may be due in part because prices continue to adjust … (0 comments)

brevard nc real estate: When was the last time you checked your insurance? - 04/04/11 10:27 AM
Doctors advise us to have a physical and various annual tests to make sure our bodies are healthy. Financial advisers suggest we take a look at our credit reports once a year to make sure our credit rating isn't being compromised. And of course, we change the batteries in our home's smoke detectors once a year to make sure we will be altered in case of a fire.  But how many of us have purchased insurance policies over the years, whether it's for our life, our business, our health, or our cars, and stored the information neatly away in a filing … (2 comments)
