boats: The Spectacular Marinas of Victoria and Area - 05/06/12 08:55 AM
Our beautiful city of Victoria has some wonderful Marinas where sailors gather, visitors watch and locals spend time on the various walking and cycling trails and boating of course. I think I have managed to assemble most of the Marinas from Sooke to Sidney and in between.

boats: First Nations Island Towns and Villages in BC - 09/05/10 04:04 AM
Phil Leng, of Kirkland, WA gave me an idea for my Blog this morning. He wrote about Native Indian place names in Washington State.
I want to share with you a fascinating island called Village Island that housed a now-abandoned community called Mamalilaculla, here in beautiful British Columbia.
Located in the Broughton islands, Mamalilaculla, which was originally built on a midden, is an abandoned First Nations community with the remains of an old totem pole rotting away on the ground. boats: The Vikings, without the Horns, in Victoria, BC! - 11/25/08 02:36 PM
From November 21, 2008 to May 11, 2009 the Vikings Exhibit is being held at the Maritime Museum of British Columbia in Bastion Square, Victoria.

 
 
Popular images of the Vikings has been that of horned-helmeted, bloodthirsty sea rovers, bent on the destruction of Western Civilization.
The truth, however, is shown at the Maritime Museum, where early Swedes, Norwegians and Icelanders were the real story.  The exhibits are shown though panels and artifacts from excavations in North America and Europe to show the look of a typical settlement.
