Serendipity Sundays- Fascinating Clouds

Clouds are very captivating for me. On my last trip to Florida it was another gorgeous day and I got to sit by the window. The clouds changed shapes and mesmerized me. How can it be that someone like me that is afraid of heights, bridges and ledges can stare out over the earth at 28,000 feet and feel elated?

This cloud view looked like a pathway that was beckoning me to come follow the path to the cloud mountains far away. I spent lots of time watching them change shapes and form.

Watching clouds takes me back to being a young girl and staring … (13 comments)

Summerlike Weather in Clarksville TN
Now that we are deep into spring it already feels like summer has really arrived. We have had intense sun, rain showers and temperatures into the 90's. My garden and flowers are responding well and now my tomato plants are almost 5 feet tall. Clarksville TN summers are hot and humid though not as humid as Georgia, Mississippi and the Carolinas. We also get some gentle breezes blowing and nights that cool down.

weather: It's Dogwood Winter in Clarksville TN - 04/20/18 07:32 PM
What Is Dogwood Winter?
Tennessee has had some crazy weather lately. There have been some very warm days and even a few into the 80's. This week took a turn toward freezing temps with a few snowflakes appearing the first of the week. The nights have been in the 30's so it has been jacket weather for sure.

When this happens in the Spring, Dogwood Winter has arrived in Clarksville. It comes every year around this time in the month of April. I look forward to it because the dogwood trees are at their best in Dogwood Winter.

Dogwood Winter represents a drastic change in temperature resembling wintertime starting all … (8 comments)

Crazy Spring Weather
We have a warm day or two with lots of sunshine and then a front moves in and temperatures drop into the 30's and we have frost warnings. This morning we had snow flurries and cold winds. But hark, tomorrow is another day and the highs are near 70's.
Thankfully the flowers are resilient and are hanging in there through these wide temperature swings. These deep purple/blue irises are mostly standing tall and giving hope that spring really has arrived though is hiding from us on some days.
One thing is for sure, if you don't like the weather in Tennessee, … (9 comments)

weather: 2018 Inclement Weather Policy for Clarksville Montgomery County Schools - 02/11/18 01:39 PM
Inclement Weather Policy for 2018
Clarksville Montgomery County School System responds to serious weather conditions by staying on the safe side and closing schools. There are some weather days tucked into the school year calendar but when those days are exhausted then holidays and school in-service days are taken away. Even extending the school day by 30 minutes a day is one of the measures used to make up the missed classroom time. Students will not get the President's Day Holiday due to school closing during the snow.

Parents are notified when school closings, delays or early closings are necessary. Other emergency type situations also … (8 comments)

What's the Weather Like in Fall in Clarksville TN?

People from all over the country move here to Clarksville. One thing that they want to know is about the weather and what to expect. Fall is my favorite time of the year and has the lowest humidity and varied temperatures.

Our Fall seasons are mild though there are usually a couple of periods when the temps dip into the 30's at night. This is when you must cover your plants if you want them to survive a hard frost. Generally there will be cooler nights in the 40's and 50's and warmer days in the 70's … (7 comments)

Late Fall Weather in Clarksville TN

In Clarksville TN during the fall you may think it is still summer because temps sometimes linger in the 80's and 90's. Then wait a few days and the weather will change and the first frost comes around the first of November. Don't expect it to stay that way for good because it will again warm up and may even fool the plants and flowers which could give it another whirl.
There are four distinct seasons throughout the year. The fall is my favorite season and late fall makes me a little sad. The trees have already had their show of color and the daylight hours are … (7 comments)

Saying Goodbye to Summer in Clarksville TN

This is the first full week of fall and the leaves on the trees are beginning to show it. Temperatures should be cooler by the weekend making it the prefect football weather.
Clarksville has mostly mild weather all year long and four very distinct seasons. The colors of fall are my favorite with spring a close second. The air is crisp in the fall and many mornings there is a fog over the land. It burns off by mid-morning and the suns breaks through. This change helps trigger the trees to begin changing colors and drop … (12 comments)

weather: Packing for a Trip, Don't Trust the Weatherman - 05/11/16 01:46 PM
Watch the Weather Forecast and Do the Opposite

It started about a week before my trip. I started watching the fronts moving across the country as I needed to plan what to take for our 10 day trip to the DC area. There was rain everywhere.
At home in Tennessee it had been a little cool and rainy but the weatherman said this would move out and the temperatures would be rising with only a little chance of showers. This was exciting as I was looking forward to temperature in the 70's and 80's on my trip and that was what they were saying. … (19 comments)

Some People May Not Know What Dogwood Winter Is All About.
If you live in Clarksville, Tennessee, sometime in the month of April you will start to see the dogwood trees bloom. Then as spring tries to find its footing and the temperatures bounce from hot to cold, you will see the blooms of the dogwood trees fully open. It is almost as if the cooler weather inspires the trees to go into full regalia.

Spring Brings Out the Buyers.

This last week in Clarksville TN we have had warm temperatures and plenty of sunshine. There was a cooler day here and there but that was easy to forget while seeing the flowering trees, daffodils and tulips in full bloom. The forsythia is still hanging on and all these signs tell buyers it is a great time to get outside and find a home.

It is a pleasure to show properties in the springtime and taking photos is easier too because the skies are blue and the grass is greening up. The attitudes of people are better than in winter and it … (16 comments)
