Dana Kuppala was instrumental in kicking the CCE “Comets” Chess Club into high gear after moving to Austin with her family from CA. They started with 20 members and now are up to 40!!
On Saturday May 2, 2015, she helped plan a friendly chess tournament between the kids and parents, had an award ceremony and pizza for lunch!

Canyon Creek Elementary will be Paying it Forward to STARRY. STARRY, a local Austin children at heart ministry, lends a helping hand to children in Foster Care. It’s hard to believe but often there are children that find themselves without a family to celebrate their birthdays.

Canyon Creek Elementary “Destination Imagination” to Compete State Level April 2015
Yahoo!! Our Canyon Creek Elementary Destination ImagiNation Team, Sound E. Seven, placed first in the Making Waves Challenge, at the Destination ImagiNation tournament on March 7th. The principle Jenny Kasson shouted out the news in her blog.
In Central Texas more than 400 teams competed. Sound E Seven will compete in the state tournament which will be held in Dallas on April 10th – 11th! All the comets who participated this year deserve a huge round of applause!! Way to go, Comets!!

It’s that time of the year! Canyon Creek Elementary hosted its Multi Cultural Fair and what a turn out! The 9th Annual event was held on Friday, March 27th from 5:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. They enjoyed 21 different cultural booths and 18 performances featuring the talented children of CCE.
Cultures included in this year’s extravaganza were: Australia, Bolivia, Canada, China, Colombia, Czech Republic, Germany, Ghana, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Pakistan, Russia, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Taiwan, United Kingdom, USA, and Venezuela.

As I left the neighborhood one morning before spring break I saw a large Hot Air Balloon tethered in the Canyon Creek subdivision through the fog..…what a glorious sight! There were lots of kids surrounding this large red white and blue Hot Air Balloon just behind Canyon Creek Elementary in the drainage fields! A closer look and I realized students held a few smaller versions of the Hot Air Balloon Scott Felder Homes so graciously provided.
