As a real estate agent, I must get that question three times a week. And why wouldn’t I? After all, people are buying homes and chances are they’ll need repair work or construction. I bought my home in 2000 so it is 11 years old and my wife and I realized that it’s time to start updating. You know how we knew? I started looking at the market and what you could buy at a similar price. It did not take long to realize that if we were going to sell this house anytime soon for top dollar, we better update now. There is no question that the luxury housing market has been hit hard by the recession. People in this price range lost plenty of money in the market, investments, and may have lost their jobs and or their retirement plans. As such, some people had their ability to buy high-end homes and had disposal income taken away.
