Palos Verdes AYSO Region 10 is hosting its 2017 Spring Playtime Adventure program designed for children 3-4 years of age. This unique program is designed to help develop children physically while focusing on improving a child’s Fundamental Motor Skills (FMS) in a fun, parent participatory atmosphere utilizing age appropriate activities and storybook adventures.
Each one hour class helps the child’s utilization and development of specific motor skills. At the end of the class, the child will receive a Soccer Treasure sticker to go in their Adventure Storybook & Movement Guide. The Palos Verdes Half Marathon and 10K and 5K run will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2016. The Palos Verdes Marathon, which is part of the Lexus LacedUp Running Series, is being presented by Saucony. Lexus is underwriting the costs of the event and will contribute funds raised to Kiwanis Club for their many scholarship programs.
The race will start and finish at Pelican Cove adjacent to Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes. The Peninsula Education Foundation is once again seeking donations to support our local Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District. The primary source of income for most public school districts in California, including the PVPUSD, is from the State. However, State support has declined since 2007-08. The most stable and reliable funding source in recent years has been local revenue from the Peninsula Education Foundation. Tennis players from the Palos Verdes Peninsula and South Bay are getting ready for the 38th Annual Tracy Austin Doubles Tennis Tournament, which will be held on July 15 to 17, 2016. This tournament is named in honor of tennis celebrity Tracy Austin, and proceeds from the event benefit the Pepper Tree Foundation which contributes to the maintenance and development of parks, trails and open space in the Rolling Hills Estates community.

Palos Verdes Stables was built in the early 1920’s before Palos Verdes Estates became a city. There was a time when children could ride bareback from the stables down to Malaga Cove Plaza to visit, at that time, Moore’s Market (which currently is Ranch Market), and could even ride down to Torrance Beach. Today, riding is limited to several specific trails and there are three arenas where riders can practice their skills.
