COLORADO SPRINGS LENDER--GUY THOMAS--WILL ROGERS SHRINE

As a COLORADO SPRINGS LENDER I have the fun of waking up each day in the town where Will Rogers, the famous humorist, has a shrine dedicated to his life and times.

The Shrine, built on the side of Cheyenne Mountain, towers over the town of Colorado Springs. The view is spectacular, one can see from the Garden of the Gods all the way to the plains east of the Springs.

The mausoleum was constructed to be the final resting place for the ashes of Spencer Penrose and his wife. Penrose was an extremely successful mining magnate and hotel owner. He was an early resident of Colorado Springs and a noted  philanthropist who donated several prominent landmarks to the City. The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, and the Broadmoor Hotel are two of the most famous. He played a major role in the early development of the City and counted Will Rogers as one of his close friends.
