Doing Business With Bloggers: Do We Have Higher Expectations? You Bet!
For the past couple of years, I've been reading Jay Markanich's posts about home inspection. First, I am impressed by any professional who writes well and who conveys to the reader how he works and his values.  Second, he sounds like he is really bright and knows how to use the latest technology. 
So, I just had a little house go under contract in Brookland, a favorite neighborhood for first time buyers.  And I needed a quintessential house nerd (a term of endearment) to come and go over the place.  I called Jay to see if he would be willing to make the drive from his home in Bristow, Virginia to Washington, DC.
He said yes!
And he delivered!
From reading his posts, I get the feeling that he is not the kind of inspector who gives listing agents a case of the warm fuzzies.  For one thing, he shows up with an infrared camera to sweep the house checking for moisture issues that might otherwise go undetected.  The property in question is a renovation and flip of a granny house.  Sure, it looks great with new kitchen, baths, light fixtures, floors and a coat of fresh paint.  But how about ... more
