Craig’s Commute and Photo Shoot
 
Have you seen the movie Trains, Planes, and Automobiles? Well that’s kind of like the theme of my daily commute... only mine is buses, boats, and trains! I live on Staten Island and work in Manhattan. I have a 90 minute trip each way to and from work. The Staten Island Ferry is a 25 minute trip across the NY Harbor. From there I catch the uptown 1 Train to 23rd Street.The ferry trip is very interesting and sometimes us commuters take it for granted. It is quite an interesting trip past the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and Governors Island. Lower Manhattan gets closer you can see interesting viewpoints up both the Hudson River and the East River. The Freedom Tower is quickly rising in the skyline at the rebuilt World Trade Center and I have a great view of this both from the ferry trip as well as my office up on 26th Street.Today I took my Canon along for the ride. It takes so much nicer photos than my phone does, it is a striking contrast and refreshing to have my regular camera. I love photography and it is fun to have days where you get to ... more
