Balconies Can Be Risky Places
While not always in the headlines, the frequency of people falling from hi-rise buildings seems to be on the increase. Mainly it's falls from balconies or roof top amenities, but a few have fallen due to failure of windows, doors or railings. A study completed earlier this year notes an increase in accidental deaths of 45% between 2000 and 2010. While no clear reason was noted, the increase of hi-rise buildings seems obvious.The influence of horseplay, alcohol and recreational drugs was also cited.

In Manhattan last week, a woman was killed in a fall from her balcony after the hand rail she was sitting on gave way.
