Continuing Our Charitable Mission For Animals. Shelters for Hounds.
Winter is here, with 8-10 inches of snow on the ground on top of last weeks 5 inches, there's more in the forecast. Our new pup Finlay is loving the snow, as you can see he has his head in the snow and his cone, learning to use it to scoop the snow! Puppy antics!
This week he cannot enjoy it much as he is leash bound while his neuter heals. That's just as well really, given the forecast for this week. With some pretty low temperatures and even lower wind chills, it's hard for us humans to tolerate the cold. Imagine how our pets feel. Finlay has a double coat, one to keep him dry, the undercoat keeps him warm. That said 10 minutes is about the longest time he should spend outside in these cold temperatures, especially later this week when the wind chills are going to be -15 to -25f.
As 2016 fast comes to an end, consider the dogs that live in backyards with no protection. Imagine what that's like! It's almost worse than being locked in a cage in a shelter waiting for a new family to adopt you.
