Wordless Wednesday...We’re Having Babies!
 
We certainly didn’t expect this! But the other day, Larry went to the garden hose and found our new mother!
 


We know that the peacocks and peahens have been having their spring fling. If you don’t know, during this time of year, they are obnoxiously loud!!! I was on the phone with Sharon Tara once and she could hear them in the background...What’s that awful noise???”
 
She’s pretty hidden but we’ve been keeping an eye out for peacocks that might get too close to the nest. I understand that they have been known to go after the eggs because they need and want the attention of the mother. They’re not all that different from some humans I’ve read about.
 
We’re not sure what’s going to happen when the peababies hatch.  Besides worrying about the peacocks, we’re also concerned about iguanas and raccoons. We have the water hose handy because I did speak to someone who said that we could squirt predators with water if they got too close.
 
Mama does get up on occasion but she hasn’t been up much lately. Larry was able to get the photo of all of the eggs when she was up! An even dozen!! ... more
