The Blue Angels and Sips of Mead
The Greater Sacramento Community of Rancho Cordova had two delightful events that occurred this past weekend.  My daughter, Jill, had captured a couple tickets to the First Anniversary event of Strad Meadery, where we were given the opportunity to sample several of their products on Saturday.

My favorites ware the Blueberry and Blackberry Meads, My daughter was also fond of the Yuzu Mead.  Yuzu fruits are a citrus fruit believed to have originated in Central China. However, I found one of the surprises at the event to be the Coffee Mead, which went really well with the chocolate brownies I found on the buffet table.  
At the end of our visit, I purchased four bottles - one each of those I mentioned.
Mead contains half the alcohol of wine, has fresh crisp flavors which are light, not filling, and have the ability to transport the imagination to renaissance times, with the appropriate music and aptly dressed characters accompanying it. 
Interestingly, enough several at our table were  uncostumed Renaissance Faire folks, who had at least one member who wasn't content with the fact The Pirates of Sacramento had partnered up with them at several events - even though I pointed out renaissance and pirate costumes were similar, with the ... more
