The purpose of this comparison is to offer a starting point for discussions if you’re looking at the Huntington Metro for condo living.

The Shops at Huntington Gateway are located at 5982 Richmond Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22303. The Shops at Huntington Gateway include: Partners in Real Estate, Gateway Cleaners, Dickson Dental, and Juliano’s Subs & Pizza.
The Shops at Huntington Gateway are just down the road from Montebello. The Shops at Huntington Gateway are close to the lower level of Huntington Metro.

The 152 route serves the following neighborhoods: Huntington, Groveton, StoneyBrooke, Bucknell, Belle View, Hollin Hills, Hollin Hall, and Mount Vernon. The 152 is helpful for: getting to Huntington metro, doing errands on Rt.1, visiting Belle View Shopping Center, or going to one of the neighborhoods listed above. An interesting fact about public transportation is that homes near public transit hold their value better.

Huntington Club Hunting Creek Club Montebello Midtowns Farrington
Hands-down, the easiest walk to the Huntington Metro among these
would be the Midtowns of Alexandria. From this building’s south lobby
one can see the buses coming and going. It’s literally only paces from
the Midtowns to the Metro. Just cross the street and you’re at the
Metro station.
The runner-up here is the Huntington Club. Admittedly the Huntington

huntington: Near the Metro and Affordable: Hunting Creek Club

Just south of Alexandria, near the intersection of Richmond Highway and Huntington Avenue, stands a sixteen story brown brick tower called the Hunting Creek Club. The tower shares the neighborhood with a few other high-rises, the most notable being Montebello at the rear on Mount Eagle.
Built in 1972, the architectural appeal of the building is in that
awkward stage that occurs long after “new” but just before “vintage”. This is of course a personal opinion, and others may disagree, but driving past the building on many occasions, it never struck me as particularly beautiful. But then, my work … (2 comments)

Huntington Metro Station (normally just called “Huntington”) is the last stop on the southern end of the Yellow Line. The south mezzanine of Huntington station is built into a hillside creating a unique panoramic view of Alexandria. The high rise along the tracks is the Midtown Alexandria Station.
Because of the hill, the station is elevated high above Huntington Avenue, but located below grade at North Kings Highway. The station is accessible via escalator access and via an interesting funicular elevator.

This weekend I toured a number of condos with a client who was prequalified at around $200k. On her budget, she can afford a fixer-upper townhouse in a neighborhood like Bucknell Manor.
She briefly considered the idea of buying a duplex townhouse. The idea of a duplex in a quiet 1950′s neighborhood is quite appealing. The reality of owning that townhouse involves maintenance and upkeep that a young single gal probably wouldn’t enjoy.

In the same year, the Huntington Club, a community of garden-style condos, were built between Huntington Ave. and North Kings Highway. About 15 years later, the Washington Metro and Transit Authority opened its first station in Fairfax County. This station was the Huntington Metro and it brought the Yellow Line to the Huntington Club. The Huntington Club is across the street from brand new condos called the Midtowns.

Belle View is within walking distance to a bus stop and Huntington Metro. Belle View has a walk score of 63. Nearby public schools include Belle View Elementary and West Potomac High School which are just a few blocks apart. The middle school for this area is Carl Sandburg. Belle View homes are close to the Belle View Shopping Center which offers a variety of businesses. Pentagon City Metro
The Pentagon City Metro Station is located at 1250 South Hayes St. Arlington, VA 22202 on the Blue and Yellow lines. The first train departs at 5:02 am from Huntington, and the last train departs at 12:06 am Huntington. The station serves the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City and the surrounding neighborhood.There is no metro parking at this station, but there are many garages and parking areas nearby at Pentagon Row and at the Fashion Centre. Trains leave exactly 3 hours later on Friday and Saturday nights. There are 8 bike racks and 22 lockers.

“Transit-oriented development” sounds like a solution to a variety of urban problems. If people could live and work within walking distance of a train or bus stop, people could save money on gas, people without cars could commute more easily, neighborhoods could reduce congestion and pollution, and economic growth could follow.
Generally, it makes sense for cities to invest in the hubs that connect people and the places they need to go. Bucknell Manor neighborhoods are a close to the metro but outside the city. Nearby shopping centers include Belle View and Beacon Mall. Bucknell has the advantages of a quiet residential neighborhood. Bucknell is close to Huntington metro. Bucknell schools include Bucknell Elementary, Carl Sandburg Middle School, and West Potomac High School.
Bucknell is located off Fort Hunt Rd, near Rt. 1, and parallel to GW Parkway. Bucknell homes were built in the 1940′s and 1950′s. Many of the homes have expanded. Bucknell is a community of Cape Cod style duplexes just outside of Old Town Alexandria.
