If you've ever served in The Corps (as I have) and have ever been stationed at MCB Quantico you most certainly have been to "Q'Town".  There is no other town like it in the US.  It is completely surrounded by the base. I revisited "Q'Town" recently and realized not much has changed with one exception.  There is now a coffee shop advertising internet access.  Since my first visit to Quantico Town preceded Al Gore inventing the Internet that sign did not exist.

military relocation: Lorton Station - If You Want To Live Closer To Fort Belvoir - 08/06/08 07:58 AM

 
 
Lorton Station is a 300 acre subdivision of 950 newer homes just South of Fort Belvoir.  Detached homes and town homes are available and it is only 15 minutes to Fort Belvoir.  Additionally, it is only 15 miles south of Washington, D.C. - the Lorton entrance to and exit from I-95 is just outside the community on Lorton Road.  On those occasions when you need to go to the Pentagon the VRE Lorton Station is in the community.  Take a Northbound train, change to Metro at King Street and go yo thr Pentagon Station.
