The 2010 Census results are in and thanks to my local newspaper, The Post and Courier I can report that my metro Charleston city, Mount Pleasant is now the 4th largest city in the state of South Carolina and grew by 43%. That's really not a big surprise as we have seen our schools bulge at the seams and neighborhoods spring up. I've been here since 1996 and the growth seems amazing to me. I can only imagine what the native Charlestonians think. Charleston County grew by 13% and was among 10 counties that grew less than the state as a whole. … (0 comments)

March 13, 2011...a day that I have marked on my calendar in red. Southwest Airlines will start air travel service to Charleston, South Carolinathat day. Low cost or discount airlines have been here before...Air Tran even but none stayed. Flying in and out of the Lowcountry has been expensive. What's a Twofer you ask...when you list a property/lot for sale but also list it as a lot/build combination. In this case a custom builder has put together a house plan including allowances and priced it to be built on this particular lot. Some buyers prefer to have the "leg" work taken out of the building process and listing this way accomplishes that.

Yes, I live about 12 minutes from the beach. Yes, summer brings months of consecutive bad hair days. Yes, you can usually play golf here on Christmas. Yes, our homes do have heat. BUT, though our winters are short and it doesn't stay cold for very long we have to be ready for winter. One day a few years ago as I left for the office I noticed water rolling down my street. As we get deeper and deeper into the mortgage crisis the opportunity is there for scam artists and con "men" to come out. Lawyers who were disbarred or have expired licenses calling people they find delinquent in the tax records, unsolicited phone calls or any offer that may sound too good to be true is probably just that. Many states and cities including mine, Charleston, South Carolina offer home ownership counseling. Those of us on the front lines need to make our clients and contacts aware and spread the word. I love where I live. Yes, I live in metro Charleston, South Carolina just 12 minutes from the Atlantic Ocean but I love it here for other reasons too. We have a sense of humor, a sense of joy and a sense of who we are and where we came from. The Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park under the Arthur Ravenel bridge is a tribute to our service people and the lives lost but also to our future. Charleston, South Carolina has again ranked on the Travel+Leisure magazine list of favorite cities in the United State and Canada.
