national association of realtors: Help Extend the National Flood Insurance Program. It's Critical! - 07/12/11 10:37 AM
I hope that you've all taken a minute to respond to the latest call-for-action from NAR. (That goes double for those who are always complaining that NAR doesn't do anything for you.)
A bill, H.R. 1309, is being debated in Congress right now that would re-authorize, reform, and extend the National Flood Insurance Program for 5 years.
The NAR Land Use Committee, has been working on getting this bill in place for years - it's been a top priority. Finally we have a bill that will truly make a difference if passed, or the NFIP program will sunset on September 30 … (1 comments)

national association of realtors: The Building Industry says more taxes on homes will help the market. Really? - 04/05/11 11:30 AM
'It has come to our attention that the California Building Industry Association (CBIA) has issued a Call to Action urging its members to tell the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) to reject a proposed rule that would prohibit private transfer fees.  The California Association of Realtors strongly supports the prohibition and urges you to ignore the Call to Action from the CBIA if you or any of your members receive it.  C.A.R. is currently drafting a letter outlining its position on the issue for the FHFA.'
You may recall a couple years back when CAR tried to get our legislature to … (3 comments)

national association of realtors: Realtors®! Please answer your Call for Action. - 03/31/11 10:30 AM
Stay Active. Answer the CFA!, Posted by Vince

Doctors consistently tell us that we can keep ourselves healthy if we stay active. Without consistent exercise, our health deteriorates.
It’s the same in politics. If REALTORS® continue to stay active on Capitol Hill, we can help bring our industry back to health and maintain its health. If our participation slides, our businesses slide.
We sent out a Call for Action on Monday to all REALTORS® on the mortgage interest deduction. It tells Congress not to trim the MID one bit. It also asks members of … (4 comments)

national association of realtors: Realtors Efforts Could Be Next Wave of Fundraising - 01/23/11 07:49 AM
Great article in the Politico yesterday entitled 'Realtors' effort could be next wave in fundraising'
A year ago this week, the Supreme Court freed corporate America to fully engage in campaigns, prompting dire predictions that Big Oil, Wal-Mart or even foreign firms would suddenly flood the political marketplace.
That didn’t happen. But at least one industry sector quietly and without controversy became a major player in the 2010 midterms – in a way that some campaign-finance experts believe could be the wave of the future for 2012 and beyond.
The model: the “Realtors’ Party,” the moniker the National Association of Realtors … (2 comments)

national association of realtors: Cap & Trade email Scare Circulating Again. - 04/09/10 08:16 AM

Recently there has been an email circulating that has freaked a lot of you out – which would be the appropriate reaction IF IT WERE TRUE!
It’s usually titled ‘Listen Up Homeowners’ or ‘No More Home Sales’ or something equally sinister.
Here’s the scoop – that email has been circulating since last summer when the American Clean Energy & Security Act (also known as the Cap & Trade bill) was still in the House in DC. In the initial bill there were provisions for point-of-sale mandates that were almost as frightening as what that email claims.
The … (0 comments)

national association of realtors: Realtors® - Part of the Fabric of Our Community. - 12/28/09 07:11 AM

I’ve just returned from the National Association of Realtors® year-end conference in San Diego and a couple weeks before that our California Association meetings in San Jose. These meetings are always very busy between wrapping up the legislative agenda for the year past, planning new offense and defense for the year ahead and passing the gavel in our leadership transition.
As Realtors® we have a great deal to be proud of in the legislative arena. This year saw some very significant achievements culminating in the extension and expansion of the Homebuyer Tax Credit. FHA Commissioner Dave Stevens, himself a Realtor®, … (0 comments)

national association of realtors: More HVCC Problems - Fraud up 46% over last year? How can that be? - 11/15/09 04:24 PM
My rant on the NAR program "HVCC Problems? Not According to the Government", stirred up quite a response from Realtors on AR, just as it did with Realtors at the NAR program. Nobody - NOBODY but the government and the people making money off the program think HVCC is working. It's not working for appraisers, it's not working for Realtors and MOST IMPORTANTLY IT'S NOT WORKING FOR THE PUBLIC - OUR CLIENTS, whom it was supposed to protect. One might almost think Andrew Cuomo was getting some kind of payback for this because in terms of a workable program, this one … (60 comments)
