foreclosures: Is This the Beginning of the Good Times?

IF YOU FEEL a bit better about real estate in America, you have good reason. Judging from recent surveys and reports, conditions are slowly improving. While everyone seems to agree the improvement will take time, there is a growing feeling that the worst is behind us. As far as I am concerned, that is a good place for it. I speak with dozens of agents every day and I am hearing more often how they are busy, how business already has turned around. Recent numbers seem to support that sentiment.

FORECLOSURES are up! Foreclosures are down! Oh my. Numbers are fickle critters. First they will tell you one thing, then they say something different. Take foreclosures for example. This week Reuters reported 69,000 completed foreclosures in March, 2012. Good or bad news? That depends on what you compare it to. It is bad news because March's numbers are more than the 66,000 in the previous month of February. So, foreclosures are up! AT REAL ESTATE PIPELINE, complaints like the following one leave us shaking our head. Why, we wonder, would a large corporation like Wells Fargo believe in this day and age it can get away with discriminating against a large group of Americans – or how it could still think it is good business practice. It seems the bust the real estate market has been struggling to recover from has left behind a host of properties that can be picked up for a fraction of what they would have cost five years ago. RATHER THAN LEARNING from a neighbor's mistake, Canada appears to be making some of the same blunders the United States still tries to recover from. Overvalued housing and unsustainable consumer debt have some Canadians worried their country may soon have a recession of its own to deal with. The only house candidates appear to be concerned with Working in the real estate industry and being a political junkie, I have been watching the recent debates and primaries with much interest. During the most recent debates in Florida I thought where better for the candidates to discuss their plans for jumpstarting the ailing real estate industry?
