The 7th Annual Strut Your Mutt comes to downtown Bethesda Saturday, May 19, 2012. A combination dog parade and festival, Strut Your Mutt allows dogs and their owners to have a day of fun and possibly win prizes. Held at the Woodmont Triangle (Norfolk and Woodmont Avenues), adults, kids and their furry friends are welcome to participate in the parade, learn about proper care and feeding for different breeds and possibly adopt a new furry family member of their own. From 10am to 3pm, the Bethesda Chevy Chase Rotary Club will be sponsoring a day full of fun and merriment for humans (1 comments)

Beginning May 3, 2012 and concluding July 19, 2012, Veterans Park will be hosting free summer concerts in downtown Bethesda. Every Thursday, from 6pm to 8pm, a featured artist or group will perform a wide variety of musical styles absolutely free to the public. The Bethesda community has an amazing art community. Downtown Bethesda is home to several galleries that showcase paintings, photography, mixed media and sculptures from local artists as well as those around the country and internationally. On the second Friday of every month, all galleries in the downtown Bethesda area open their doors to the public from 6pm to 9pm for the Bethesda Art Walk. Bethesda residents are true supporters of the arts. This is especially true of the written word. The 13th Annual Bethesda Literary Festival makes its way to downtown Bethesda this month (April 20-22, 2012). For three glorious days, visitors can listen to written works of art read by the local high school and adult winners of the Bethesda Literary Festival's Essay & Short Story Contest. Children of all ages can enjoy special storytelling of favorite rhymes, bedtime stories and songs. Popular authors such as R.L. Stine from the Goosebumps series and Steve Jobs biographer Walter Isaacson will also be on hand to read stories (2 comments)
