washington: Evergreen State Fair Reports Poor Attendance - 10/02/09 02:23 AM

I dug this out of the file of articles to read, and honestly it doesn't surprise me.  They blame poor attendance at the Evergreen State Fair on the weather, but I have my doubts.

Final attendance for the 2009 Evergreen State Fair was down 6.2 percent in 2009 compared with 2008, event organizers said.
The 12-day Monroe event from Aug. 27 through Sept. 7 attracted 714,756 visitors this year, and attendance would have been higher if the weather cooperated, organizers said.
“Were it not for poor weather, we would have seen more visitors this year,” said Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon, … (0 comments)

washington: The fight over Bothell's garbage - 05/20/09 01:08 AM
I have to go with the pun that there is a big stink over who gets Bothell's garbage.  (Sorry couldn't help it!)  Of all the things in the world to fight over, it seems that King and Snohomish Counties are fighting over who gets to pick up Bothell's trash.
BOTHELL -- A cross-county fight over who gets Bothell's trash might derail the city's efforts to annex 22,000 new residents. The Snohomish County Council voted 4-0 on Monday to oppose the annexation, unless Snohomish County continues to handle trash from the area in question. King County officials say an agreement with Bothell from … (0 comments)

washington: Lower Excise Tax on Short Sale Properties in Washington State - 01/13/09 10:47 PM
Good news for anyone that is needing to sell a home for less than what they owe in Washington state (aka short sell.)  According to the News Tribune:
Department of Revenue communications director Mike Gowrylow said the department will now only levy taxes on the actual sale price of the property not on the amount the owners owed. Under short sales plans, families who've seen the value of their homes decline below the amount they owe on them negotiate with their bank to sell the house. The bank agrees to accept the sale price in satisfaction of their loan even if … (0 comments)

It just came across my desk that billthecougnut has proposed a Hot Rod Cuize-in on January 7th in Bothell.  In his post at AllFordMustangs.com he says:
How about meeting at the Burgermaster in Bothell at about 8 pm on Sat the 7th of Mar 2009 when the weather gets better. (If the weather sucks, then have fun people) but I just want to see a bunch of cars out there on a saturday evening like there used to be. In the past, it was an unwritten rule, that there would be cruiz-in's all around King and Snohomish County. Burgermaster in Bothell was one, … (0 comments)
