A very successful and enjoyable second annual Brasil Jazz Festa was held last Sunday, November 22nd, 2009 at the Encinitas Public Library in Encinitas California. 
While last year's Brasil Jezz Festa was a tribute to Brazilian composer and guitarist Chico Pinheiro, this year's offering was a more eclectic tribute to other Brazilian composers like Antonio Carlos Jobim. 
Local jazz artist Allison Tuckers Adams, who lives in Leucadia, and San Diego musician/flutist Louisa West co-founded the first festival, inspired by West's inspirational participation a couple of years ago in a Brazil jazz camp held annually in the Sonoma area for the last 11 years.

Once again the Carlsbad art gallery Cannon Art Gallery is featuring a wonderful show, this time of contemporary drawings in Southern California.
The show opened August 20 and will run until November 1 at the gallery located adjacent to the Carlsbad Library at 18775 Dove Lane in South Carlsbad. 

"Moving Points" features 8 area artists with diverse drawing styles and themes in both "representational and abstract works" (per Karen McGuire, Gallery Director and Curator) - Adam Belt, Joseph Biel, Tom Morgan, Enjeong Noh, Iana Quesnell, William Riley, Ernest Silva and Pat Warner.

There isn't really too much to say, since the real fun was in the looking...at dozens of classic cars from all over Southern California lined up along the Coast Road/Route 101 in downtown Encinitas.
 
A classic band playing Beach Boy songs (Little Deuce Coupe for example - a You-tube playlist video) and other vintage car songs at the Smog Center entertained folks throughout the evening.

This popular event, the 11th, will be this coming Thursday August 30 in downtown Encinitas. Classic Car Cruise Night will run from 5:30 PM until 7:30 PM between D and K Streets.
