It's the first day of summer in Carlsbad, as it is elsewhere in the Northern Hemisphere, and while our weather doesn't reflect that - we have a heavy case of our June Gloom today - there are plenty of signs of my favorite season.
More visitors, more parking challenges, longer waits at restaurants, more people out shoppng and wandering the streets, the beaches are busier even on cloudy days, schools are out, and there is a growing list of things to do - outdoor movies, free live outdoor music on Fridays in the Village, the TGIF (8 comments)
The marine layer was lifting as we headed toward the Village and a frequent Saturday morning ritual - breakfast at Cafe Elysa - our favorite place within view of the ocean - and then a walk along the beach. Today is the first day of summer, and our summer weather arrive a few days ago, and fairly suddenly.
The marine layer has been conspicuously absent for the last 5 days and today it's in the low 80s. Not nearly as blistering hot as some other areas but for the coast it's pretty warm.

Summer in our charming Village by the Sea means all sorts of things:
Beaches and Beaches Dining outdoors and on the beach Ice Cream and Gelato Shopping in Carlsbad Village and at the Premium Outlets Mall Tourists Riding Bicycles or Walking along the sea Golf Swimming and Surfing People-watching Sunsets And just plain RELAXING!!
Enjoy the Carlsbad lifestyle in the summer, or anytime!

The TGIF Concerts in the Parks take place on 9 consecutive Friday nights from late June through mid August. Until (16 comments)
