As the city's oldest and second largest park, Elysian Park is a treasure that Los Angeles residents are determined to preserve. These 575 acres (then called Rock Quarry Hills) were dedicated as a city park in 1886 and subsequent city charters have protected the land for park purposes in perpetuity. Interestingly, the public did vote to allow construction of the Dodger Stadium in 1952 – so that the Brooklyn Dodgers would have a home when they came to California. At that time, the keystone cops and westerns were being filmed in parts of Echo Park and Silver Lake once known as Edendale. Lago Vista is a Cool Mid Century Modern condo complex with all units overlooking Echo Park Lake! There are a lot of folks living in and around Silver Lake and Echo Park who probably don't know that this particular condo complex exists. It's known as Lago Vista. The complex was designed by a Mid Century Modern architect by the name of Allyn E Morris. He liked to weave his slender structures to follow the shape of the land.
