downtown san diego: Bayside by Bosa: Downtown San Diego condominium resort living at its finest - 07/25/10 02:43 PM
I've lived in San Diego since 1988 and have been able to watch many buildings go up along the San Diego Bay.
In the late 1980s and early 1990s, the previous building boom was going bust, but in the mid-1990s, things picked up again and lasted until around 2006.
One of the new buildings that opened within the past year is what I consider one of the more beautiful buildings downtown. It is Bayside by Bosa:

Bayside by Bosa opened in November 2009, offering 232 unique homes on the front row of San Diego's beautiful harbor. These are one- and two-bedroom condominiums … (4 comments)

downtown san diego: What do you do with lots of pictures? Share some! - 05/26/10 09:44 PM
I went down to the waterfront yesterday evening. There was some sort of sailing race going on and I got lots of pictures. In the interest of not overwhelming the ActiveRain servers and getting Mr. Proxy Error and Mr. Bad Gateway on my case, I'll share just a few with you.

downtown san diego: San Diego Architecture: Treo at Kettner, downtown San Diego - 05/19/10 01:51 PM
After the previous real estate bust of the late 1980s and early 1990s, construction in downtown San Diego virtually came to a halt.
One of the first high rises to be completed after the real estate market revived in the late 1990s was Treo @ Kettner.
Usually simply called Treo, it is a 24-story mixed use development at the southern edge of downtown's Little Italy and comprises the block bounded by West A Street, West B Street, Kettner Boulevard, and India Street.
Completed in 2003 and located at the south border of downtown's Little Italy, Treo includes 330 condominiums, a beautiful … (6 comments)

downtown san diego: Mission Valley condos, San Diego: Public art along the San Diego harbor - 08/19/09 02:51 PM
Just a hop, skip, and a jump from your Mission Valley condo is downtown San Diego, a vibrant area of restaurants, dinner cruises, boating, big daddy cruises, wildlife, more San Diego condos, trains, hotels, the Convention Center, the Gaslamp Quarter, and more.
Of course, anywhere you have the public, it seems to be a requisite that there be public art. Sometimes it's controversial, but in all cases, it usually causes one to pause and think. Sometimes we think, "Why?" but nonetheless.
Following is a slide show of a lot of the public art along Embarcadero South and Embarcadero North in downtown San Diego along the harbor.

downtown san diego: WWW (Wordless Wednesday with Words) at San Diego Harbor - 08/19/09 03:48 AM
I've been a walker all my life, trying to take at least a 20-minute walk each day.
Two of my favorite places for a leisurely stroll are along the San Diego River in Mission Valley and along the San Diego Harbor in downtown San Diego.
The Embarcadero along the San Diego Harbor is a vibrant and active area. It's fun to watch the tourists, wildlife, sailboats, Navy ships, and even the locals. The San Diego Port Commission also commissions public art along the Embarcadero, some of it controversial and some of it not necessarily being defined by some as public art even … (7 comments)

downtown san diego: What a great missed opportunity.... - 07/23/09 07:12 AM
We all know that governments leave a little to be desired when it comes to logic (a little?).
San Diego in April 1993 claimed that they wanted more people to live and work downtown, so they set about doing things that would bring more people downtown, such as finally getting a major grocery store downtown, adding walkways, cleaning up depressed blocks, and generally making it a more pleasant environment to live and work in.
Part of living, in my opinion, is raising the family, so if people were going to do more than just work downtown, there would have to be … (19 comments)

downtown san diego: Location, location, location? Ha! Views, views, views - 09/11/08 03:04 PM
Occasionally I have the opportunity to show Clients some properties in downtown San Diego. One of my favorite properties in the downtown area is The Grande. It has twin towers, and in honor and memory of the heroes of 9/11 and the Twin Towers of New York City, I offer some views from our meager substitute.
What I most like about The Grande is that they are located right on Harbor Boulevard, so they have a view of San Diego Bay, the Coronado Bridge and Coronado Island, the San Diego International Airport, the Cruise Ship Terminal, and the historic Santa Fe Railroad Depot on … (8 comments)
