Museum of The Waxhaws is a  regional history museum, the which covers the area named after the Waxhaw Indian Tribe who once roamed the region. It serves also as a memorial to the 7th US President, Andrew Jackson, who was born nearby.  The museum has numerous artifacts as well as a film that details the area's history.  Subjects include the first European explorers, early settlers, particularly the Scots-Irish, and the boyhood of Andrew Jackson, which was spent in the Waxhaw region. waxhaw: Real Estate Charlotte NC : Discovering Waxhaw, NC - 09/17/07 12:22 PM
July 4th took me back to days I had seen only on TV.  It felt much like what Mayberry, NC must have been.  Crowds of children gathered with their families and there was an aire of excitement as the Crossroads Coffee House sold pastries and their signature bold coffee to those waiting for the Independence Day parade to begin.  And oh what a begining!!  The Mayor, the beauty queens from area towns, and the local congress woman Sue Myrick.  Fire trucks spraying water to keep festival goers cool in the July heat, though that day no one minded the heat at all.  … (0 comments)
