aiken real estate: Have you ever? - 08/14/08 11:22 AM
I had never ever seen a match until I moved here to Aiken SC.  I was definitely in the minority.  Seems like everyone had been to at least one match.   Sure, I saw the pictures in the magazines for Ralph Lauren..... the handsome young hot guy in his polo outfit, the half-naked hot chick next to him, lol.   Well - that is not really polo, lol.  Well, uhhhhh......yes, the players have a little bit of a reputation, but what athlete doesn't.   They all have their groupies, haha.  Anyway -  As you know an associate in my office and I are doing this Polo:101 series … (2 comments)

Yup, you heard me.  3 blocks to dirt!  In Aiken that means a lot.   Dirt is the horse district.  There you can watch the thoroughbreds train in the mornings, enjoy breakfast at the Track Kitchen, watch a polo match...... maybe even watch an Olympian train!!! (I'll talk about that in another blog)   As you drive down Two Notch Road you will know you are in the horse district when the road changes from paved to dirt.    Another indication might be some of the street signs.

Well, this house is like three blocks to dirt, haha.  Great location.   Convenient to the … (0 comments)

aiken real estate: If walls could talk - 07/06/08 06:41 AM
...imagine the stories they would tell.   Take this house for instance, it was built in 1887.   That is a lot of births, deaths, weddings, cotillions, parties, holidays.....   not to mention all of the secrets being shared between friends, the family dinner conversations, overheard late night calls to secret lovers......  !
When I walk into one of these grand historic homes, that is all I can think about.  I imagine brides walking down the beautiful staircase.......

To give y'all a feel for my little city.  I'm sitting in my living room and I hear the clip-clop of horses hooves on the pavement.  Yes, I knew it would be a horse-drawn carriage, but I still rush to the window every time I hear them.  Well, it was the cutest thing.  It was a carriage - a small one, the lady driver and her two pups along for the ride :)  .....and..... there was a younger boy hitching a ride on the back of the carriage, and his horse was walking along behind them (on a lead, of … (3 comments)
