prince william county: Google Loves Active Rain Posts - 09/30/07 09:43 PM
Last week I did a post about the Prince William County, Virginia Fire Chief retiring.  This lady has won national and international acclaim for her leadership development skills.  There was a major celebration in her honor at The National Museum of the Marine Corps which my husband and I attended.  I don't know who Googled what, but my post appeared and she has been getting lots of phone calls thanking her for her service and commenting on the post.  It's a pleasure to know my post had some part in recognizing the public service accomplishments of a friend. prince william county: Mary Beth Michos Retires - 09/24/07 02:59 AM

Who is Mary Beth Michos you ask?  She was Prince William County Fire Chief for almost 13 years before retiring in September.  Chief Michos has received both national and international acclaim for the work she has done in leadership training and professionalism for our county fire department and others throughout the country as well as improving the quality and quantity of the county's fire and rescue equipment.
Fortunately, her talents will not fade away - she has just been named Deputy Executive Director of the International Association of Fire Chiefs.  Mary Beth is an active Rotarian and is actively involved with the American … (3 comments)

prince william county: Wild Turkey or Virginia Gentleman? - 09/10/07 08:03 AM
Many people think bourbon must be made in Kentucky just as Vidalia onions must be grown in Vidalia, GA.  Wrong, wrong, wrong !!!  The folks in Lynchburg, TN know that, but they are not the only ones who make bourbon outside the state of Kentucky, because bourbon is also made in Fredericksburg, VA. Virginia Gentleman Bourbon is produced by the A. Smith Bowman Distillery
Although the distillery is located in Fredericksburg it started producing bourbon in Northern Virginia in what is now Reston, Virginia.  Adam Smith Bowman purchased a dairy farm in that section of Fairfax County in 1927,  He went into … (1 comments)

prince william county: Y'all Come - Bald Eagles Do - 09/04/07 01:39 PM

As you may know, bald eagles reside in 49 of our 50 states - none have made it to Hawaii.  Those in the Northeast migrate south to Virginia in the winter months while those in the Southeast migrate north to Virginia in the hot summer months.  Our normally mild climate is a primary reason in addition to the large supply of fish in our rivers, tidelands and lakes.  There are numerous attractions to bring you to the Commonwealth in addition to the fishing.  If you have never had the pleasure of enjoying our hospitality you … (10 comments)

prince william county: Promote Your Service "Organization" - 09/04/07 03:14 AM
REALTORS have a long history of community service.  However, too frequently, we don't put forth an effort to promote the organization we serve as much as we could.  Obviously, we will assist the organization if we include the organization in our personal promotion.
Arthur and I are both Rotarians.  We belong to different clubs in order to broaden our community service.  I am a member of the Rotary Club of West Springfield and Arthur is a member of the Rotary Club of Lake Ridge.
Both our vehicle tags, my stationery, my primary website and my AR site have the Rotary International logo

For some of you it has already happened.  However, for most of us on Tuesday September 4th BIG YELLOW will start delivering people's "heirs and assigns" to and from school.  Being careful with our driving anytime is just another opportunity for us to serve our community responsibly.  Of course, BIG YELLOW alerts us to this at the start of the new school year

prince william county: Twofold Virtual Tour Approach - 08/27/07 09:22 AM
Most REALTORS provide a Virtual Tour for their listings.  It has been my experience the vast majority of them are a collection of still photos uploaded to their Multiple Listing System software.  I create panoramic action shots both inside and outside the home.  The software I use allows me to have as many as 50 photos enabling me to add points of interest such as schools, libraries, parks, local shopping centers, pools, bus and subway stops, etc.
THE TWOFOLD APPROACH IS THAT
Each of my Virtual Tours has their own URL I own a domain that has a link to the … (1 comments)
