Airports, as we know it, are for taking off and going somewhere, or landing from somewhere else.
The Elkhart Municipal airport has opportunities for pilot training, as well as commuting back and forth to and from work. They have businesses rent space to sell used cars, as they bring in hundreds of cars from local dealerships. I have seen air shows and world war II , displays of War Birds

Havilah Beardsley, a physician, purchased land form an Indian Chief named "Chief Pierre Moran" for $1,500. and founded the city of Elkhart where the St. Joseph River and the Elkhart River meet. The island at that location, looked like an Elk's Heart, so he named the town Elkhart.
While in the area, he built the home overlooking the river and then built Saw mills and flour mills. In 1850, he brought the railway to the area and further, donated some land for machine shops, used by the railroad.

A Giant heart sculpture was designed, with the help of many elementary students, each painting their own star design on the sculpture, in remembrance of Sarah Crane, who attended Cleveland Elementary before entering High School.
Sarah Crane, age 15 and a sophomore at Elkhart Memorial Hospital, was one of the youngest people to be diagnosed with stage four colon cancer. With 5 months of treatment, including multiple surgeries and several rounds of chemotherapy, the medical bills mounted up. My uncle, Don Spaulding and his brother Bernard Spaulding, permanently donated their father's World War I uniform and other memorabilia to The History Museum in South Bend, Indiana, in March of this year, for a special WWI display, they were going to have at the museum, starting in April.
